Why doesn't anyone seem to realize that nobody from New Jersey actually pronounces the word "Joisey"?!
Nobody in Jersey...except for EVERYONE I KNOW from the state...Scintilla wrote:...

Bad when a stereotype works....
I'm more concerned with the Bonklers episode (though, considering that the title of their Azumanga Daioh trailers page is "Everybody's gone blonklers!" [sic], I'm feeling rather optimistic about that one) and the far-famed "CUZ I LIKE HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS AND STUFF!"Declan_Vee wrote:
Well as long as ADV translate this along the same lines whoever did the fansub, I guess I can't complain.
Personally, I liked what Viz did with the Evangelion manga in giving Touji a Brooklyn accent... they explained their rationale for doing so in the back of one of the books: they talked to a Japanese guy who'd lived in Japan and the U.S., and he said that the effect would be roughly the same. In any case, it did seem to fit his personality.Declan_Vee wrote:But why southern? I mean if they're going to insist on giving her one, why not a British accent, or Australian, Irish perhaps?
