I was really liking the Azumanga Daioh dub until they got to Osaka's voice once again they decided that people from Osaka must sound like southener's why not make them sound like they are from new york or something that accent is closer. Ack another series ruined. I love Osaka why did they this to poor Osaka.

Apparently, someone decided that the Kansai accent is the Japanese equivalent of the American southern accent.

How, why, or what's inherently similar about them is beyond me. This is why I couldn't stand the Love Hina dub for longer than a few minutes... well, until Kitsune came in, anyway.

And them doing that to Osaka - nasty nasty

How do you have access to the Azumanga Daioh dub? Volume 1 doesn't come out until the end of April, last I checked...

Hmm Southern eh...naw I don't see it.

In my experience with listening to someone with an Osaka dialect....*IE...Caldina...maybe Tasuki?....ya thinks that's it, at least all I can think of ...* I don't think Southern really matches =/

If I were to compare to anything, it'd be more of a New Yorker type thing, but not really... you know what I mean =/

J/K . . . People have told me that I speak in a distinctly "West Texas" tone -- I don't know why, I grew up in New Mexico, . . .

Anyway, couldn't be worse than the "California surfer dude" accent they gave another character who originally had an "Osaka-ben" (sp?) . . .

I'm referring to Kero-chan.

There was a sampling of it in the DVD that came with this months edition of Newtype.

I dont know HOW you liked the dub till osaka...the whole damn thing is the most horrid dubbing job ive ever heard =/ and ADV's subbing sucks as well...theres no way to get around it...ADV completely screwed God...i mean Azumanga up....you cant watch it in japanese happily because the subs suck...so unless you know japanese then it sucks in japanese also cuz they ruined the subs......and the dub is even worse then anything else they have ever done...and that is saying a lot.
