Making a disturbing movie about the end of the world would be fine if it didn't have so many Christian references and symbols. Even the title is a reference ("Neon Genesis Evangelion" means "New Evangelical Beginning", I read somewhere). Because that movie is certainly not Christian.
I wasn't aware Armageddon was supposed to be a barrel of laughs (billions dying, the stars falling from the heavens (!? :? cough geocentrism cough), the Beast of Relevations, the Universal Product Code, etc). :?

I never seen any Evangelion apart from trailers and AMVs, so I don't really know if any of this is so...but in one EofE trailer there's this strange looking guy tumbling from a cross, and there a shot of what looks to be cross sprouting multiple eyes...plus I know in the series there is something called "Adam" that needs to be protected. So I'm not surprised to hear religious believers dismayed at all this.

Neon Genesis Evangelion translates roughly as "New Beginning Gospel"...not 100% accurate Greek. I suppose they meant to say "Gospel of a New Beginning" - Neas Geneseôs Evangelion. (Apologies - my Greek is very poor)

My source is the three people in the EoE commentary, one being an "Eva monkey" who I assumes his stuff.

If they're wrong then I'm wrong. :P

That's actually a remake of a much older song. It's also more about the End Times and the Great Tribulation than salvation, although I grant that these are important topics too.

Honestly, though, I'd love to see what the Japanese could do if they redid all the old "Hanna Barbara heros of the Bible" stories with all the sex and violence in the text put back in where it belongs. Maybe if we could hook somebody from Japan up with Mel Gibson... Given how freely the blood and thunder flowed in Ayashi no Ceres, I think the Japanese animators would be just the people to do it. Christianity's supposed to be a slaughterhouse religion!

Anyway, until then, I suppose I could always try making an animated music video from Prince of Egypt. That had some good stuff in it.

Alright everybody, I don't mean to be rude, but I guess you guys didnt do your homework when you said there are no real Christian AMV's that proclaim the gospel. I myself have made a couple.
http://animemusicvideos.org/members/mem ... hp?v=36055
and
http://animemusicvideos.org/members/mem ... hp?v=32157

both have Christainity as their theme. Many of my other videos have Christian artists and I have many friends who use Christian artists as well. So please do not say things without looking anything up please.

There was looking up done at the begining of the thread but it was hardly scientific...it was done by taking the names of Christian rock groups and plugging them into the site's Super Search. It would not have caught, say, an AMV done to Silent Night as you've done.

*************

And now for a scary thought unrelated to the other half of my reply (so what if it's an old thread, I wasn't around when it was running ;p)...an AMV done to the music of "Jesus Christ Superstar".

*looks to see if anyone has actualy been crazy enough to do that already...doesn't seem to be, judging by an artist search for Andrew Loyd Webber.*

Now on one hand, I'm an athiest and wouldn't in a million years want to do a truly religious peice of work in any medium. On the other hand, JCS still plain rocks and not all of the songs are blatently religious (e.g.: "What's the Buzz?", "I Don't Know How to Love Him", "Could We Start Again Please", etc.) And any resulting video made from any one of those songs could possibly be even less religious for whatever reason...preaty easy to do if you're not specificly trying to emphasise the Gospel paralels in any given peice.

Same probably goes for a lot of the song/AMV pairings mentioned at the begining of this thread.
