Kind of an odd place to ask...

A 'Dance' video is a video set to dance music (techno, R&B, funk, classical, whatever, as long as it's got a beat), that focuses on movement and rythym rather than story or action. Good example: Stop the Rock? by Nappy.

A "Parody" video makes fun of animes, people, movies, other AMVs, etc. Good example: The Chibi Things (That Kill)....also by Nappy. :)

Guess I like his videos....
Life's short.

I very clearly remember reading somewhere on this site that Parody is not necessarily the same as Comedy, but for the life of me I cannot remember <s>what made us think that we were wise</s> where I found it.

For instance, Doki Doki's "Right Now Someone Is Reading This Title" is both parody and comedy, because (1) it's funny as hell and (2) it clearly is supposed to resemble Van Halen's original music video.

I kinda wish I could think of a parody that <i>isn't</i> comedy, but I can't. Oh wait, got one: DJ_Izumi's <a href="http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... 27283">The Real Animatrix</a>.

What about Elvis vs. Anime? It was a parody of the original Elvis music video shot for shot using anime charicters (how much patience this took I can't begin to imagine.) It's more of a dance video than a comedy but it definatly qualifies as a parody.

I think most parodies are also comedies because they tend to make fun of thier source, and what could be more fun than watching people get laughed at?

A Parody is something that makes fun of the anime or the song itself. Sorta like Zoom Zoom (first ever car commercial amv)

<Insert some lame Mastercard commercial references here>

Slipping in a reference to the "The Freshmen" whilst doing whatever those lame Mastercard references were:

PRICELESS

Actually, to add to this confusion, all three of my comedy videos probably would fall under the parody category, even though I didn't mark them that way. 'Nerv' Trouble, How Not To Be Seen, and SPHS Anime Club Commercial. Maybe even this one too Solace In Destruction(although this is not a comedy; it might be a parody though since I used the kinds of effects (and music) that I did)

I'm not sick, but I'm (really) not well ^_^\/
