i'm sure u guys know that some dvd players can be bios flashed to become region free right?

dokool mentioned that. DVD drives can have their firmware replaced with a hacked version. However, I believe that this is also technically illegal (DMCA again).

Some, but not all. I have a utility for my LiteOn that resets the number of times I can change the region coding, but there's no permanent unlocker AFAIK. It depends on the kind of protection that the hardware has, etc etc...
