look, its not like he called it his own work...

he DID give credit to caldwell for the originol, and just remade the quality, which IMO was needed

Yea, he doesnt claim it his own work... I was planning to do the same thing even... though I don't think this video does Engel justice as a remaster... so I might still do it one day...

I just find it all very inconsiderate and pretentious.

It's one thing if you want to re-do it yourself for your own viewing... but to not only put it out there for others to view, and on top of that, not make it absolutely accurate to the original... that's just doing a dis-service to the video and its original creator.

What kinda irks me are the claims in the description about "Oh, I did this re-make perfectly, here's the timeline if you think you can do better."

Well... it's not perfect, and I could tell in the first two seconds. Quite a claim to be making when it's utterly false.

If you want to re-create someone else's video, do the community a favor and keep it to yourself. There's nothing you'll be "adding" to the video, unless you're doing a completely new take on the idea... in which case it's not even the original video anymore, anyway.

On a related note, I think it was Brad DeMoss telling the story last Otakon... someone came up to him at a con and handed him a CD with one of his older videos that the kid re-mastered with DVD footage. ... what the Hell... ?

I know of a remake done to Demos's Rhythm of the Heat vid, though with some slight changes during the action o.O
