a-m-v.org review!

Post by melezov » Fri Aug 30, 2002 7:53 pm

Good Points:

This AMV ROCKS! I have reviewed this AMV for more than (checks his hits) 746 times and everytime I watch it I discover something new!

It's really increadible how this AMV works.. If I didn't know better I'd say it's form is evolving all the time concluding that I always watch a newer version. One can find everything he'd ever dream of in this AMV.. Even more! I recently found a >GOOD< DBZ AMV which wasn't done by Scott A Melzer or Meri ^^ .. I also found VicBond007's "Requiem for Dreams" done to Excel Saga footage... From In Game footage over ripped PSX CGI to conventional AMVs (when did anime become conventional?) this AMV covers it ALL! It's just wonderful how literaly THOUSANDS of producers worked together to create this AMV.

Now - onto some serious reviewing.

Originality - Let's face it.. This AMV has been done before. The first AMV (collections) I've seen were on secret Hotline servers in early 1997 i think.. I remember lines like "OVER 2 GB of AMVs!!".. LOL.. aww. .. memories..

Anyhows - Even if it has been done before, it has never expanded to this levels.. Video Capture Forums, Originality Chats, Profiles on different Sound Capture ideas, Live action Databases, Lip Syncing Tutorials.. **

Everything has been fit to da max...
Therefore I am prepared to give this AMV an easy 9 / 10 for originality.
Just like I would give 9 / 10 to a really fascinating EVA to Chop SueMe..

Video Capture:

I have seen the first version of this AMV and it rocked. Now that you remastered it, it rocked.. my world! The Forums are CRYSTAL CLEAR, not even a slight trace of artificing, no lame subtitling, letterboxing, LowRes, rm format..

The only only objection I have that you could have done a Rm (read Lynx) version of the thing.. There are people with 28800 you know (there are? I don't know anyone except myself :) but I guess that's just a too painstalk.. painstaki.. ** job for a too low feedback. Aw who cares, this video quality is GOD why would anyone want anything more?

As I said GOD = 10 / 10

Action sync was really really good but I must object to some minor bugs that alas i think you couldn't have done better...

It's just when I try to scroll to a perticular piece of this AMV (let's say Forums / member profile) it just lags.. Sometimes more than 10 seconds.. Oh well.. I just hope that what I'm saying is wrong and that it's all becouse my computer / modem cannot handle high bitrate...

Doesn't matter - a really nice 8 / 10 for Action Sync seems more likely**

I didn't notice any lip sync except of some at the Anime+Music=AMV banner but those don't count.. I don't know why you enabled this option.. I'll just leave it N/A..

D.E. were great! I loved the .php effect! You really mastered this one..
Aw, man.. I will never be this good.. Which program did you use? Adobe Notepad? A sweeeet 10 / 10!!

Effort is an obvious 10 / 10... You obviously put a lot of sweat tears blood and HDDs into this project and I salute you for that.** This is the lest that I can do for your effort.. hmm.. maybe a donation of 12$ would be better?

Okay, done here - onto the BAD section

Sound Capture..

THE SOUND WAS HORRIBLE!! What the HELL did you use? What codec what that? It was HORRIFIC!! ABSOLUTE TERROR!

i didn't understand ONE lyric, the sound volume wsa increadibly low I had to boost my speakers to the max, up my volumes in Windoze, tweak my sound card and when i finally got something it sounded like pure white noise.. Or brown noise.. or was it pink noise?

Anyway IT SUCKED!!!
Can you imagine how my speakers felt when in teh middle of my sound card tweaking proccess i accidently started that Blasted ICQ?? IT SCARED ME three fourths ** to DEATH!! The.. SOUND.. SUCKED!!

Shame on you! Do destroy a wonderful AMV like this with such lame sound.. grrrr...

Final Thoughts:

Re - viewability..

I find this AMV inreadibly re-viewable.. Not only do I loop it for a while when I watch music videos, I LOOP IT ALL THE TIME when I watch anime videos! it's only your luck that your sound was so low volume**, so that it doesn't distrupt other AMVs in the process..

I cannot give you less then 11 / 10 for reviewability since I've changed my homepage to www.animemusicvideos.org (deadly serious - I don't surf the web much so it doesn't kill me - only use Holtine / ICQ / AIM / Y! / MSN...

Overall .. a pure 10 /10..
In my country we have a term "suza". In literal translation it would sound something like.. "a tear". It means that I am so confident in this opinion I don't need to convince myself why I scored it like that **..

If you still need an example let's take a peek at Pokemon - Bitc*es..
Low quality, extreme lack of editing footage, but 10 / 10 for overall...

In the same manner I dub this THE BEST AMV EVER!!!

I extremely look foward to seeing more of your works! Be sure to contact me when you do another project so that then we can review swap ^^

A webpage for a webpage that is ^^

If one actually read the post(s) one could also conclude that this is a review of a-m-v.org .. not an AMV but THE a-m-v.org..

So kill me if I like to review things based on a-m-v.org standards ^^

I agree... sort of

While I love a-m-v.org, best online site for AMVs, I kind of wish there was a section in your review for reliability. While I realize this isn't all on amv's side, actually downloading a video here, I've found, only succeeds maybe, oh, 35% of the time. Just wish there was some way the webmasters could weed out all the bad links or something, I dunno, its just annoying, so many AMVs I want to see, click... wait... error.

Hey brandx0,

That's what the little "prob" link is for next to the download link. ;-)

Post subjects are a waste of time

Joke or not, I'm disturbed that you would merit a video with such ridiculous sound problems as much as 3 for sound quality.

Non applicable lip synching? It doesn't look like we are talking when we are talking?

<dramatization>
Oh.. I usually grade the sound on a X+random(4) basis so it's ok.
