trying to figure something out
I downloaded an untitled AMV of Witch Hunter Robin off of Kazaa, and it features a great song - except for the fact that it has no clue of the song anywhere. I tried looking for it in the a-m-v.org search engines, but to no avail. The Author is supposedly Justin S., 42.7 mb, and its a .WMV file. Can anyone help me find out the song? It's in a different language, kind of New Age music, methinks. Help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I don't think you can strip the audio from a wmv in VirtualDub. You can try, but if it doesn't work, try converting the video to huffyuv and *then* try to strip the audio. I haven't had wmvs (or old Video 1 avi formats) read in VirtualDub as having an extractable audio track - even if they *do* have audio attached. It could be a matter of wmv format, though.
But yeah, if you just want the song to listen to, strip it. If you think the video is probably on the org somewhere, just glance through the vids for that anime and check the ones with songs in that language (Japanese?). Or better yet, try to see if anyone has seen the vid you're talking about - mention certain parts of the amv that might ring a bell. Chances are if you can find people who know the vid, you'll find one who recognized the song used there. If not, strip the audio and try sharing it in the chat room till someone identifies it.

Egh. Yes, you need to use an avisynth script to open a wmv file in VirtualDub (I hear other versions like the MOD don't need this - Vdub does).
Just tell it to use the DirectShow filter, something like this:
DirectShowSource("C:\wild-wmm-aud.wmv",fps=29.97)
And make sure to put the framerate in. It should open fine. But I still don't think you can strip the audio from a wmv file, you'd have to convert it first (and even that might not work, though it does if you convert the wmv in ShowBiz and then open it in Vdub as a huffyuv file).

Aim transfers (america online instant messenger) or if you convert the wav to mp3 and zip it up (so it's under 5mbs), you can load the file onto a website and give the link out - but you can't give the link here. We aren't allowed to give links to downloadable music. You'd have to either do it in the chatroom, or just send the file over aim or Yahoo instant messenger.Ravizek wrote:I hate to sound like a newb, but how do i share the file in a forum? I don't have any private webspace where i can put it up. But i did strip it and much thanks to Arigatomyna and bum for that.
