Personally I wouldn't care cause it would be getting people to see more AMVs but if they were making money off it I would feel a little ripped off. And that would be a good idea Otohiko but they'd have to be directly representing the .org and therefore probly want Phade or somebody to help pay for expenses like blank DVDs and such.

Is there absolutely *anything* wrong with the current AMV distribution system?

*Anyone* can come to this site and download as many AMVs as they want, for free.

At a convention, generally there are several (if not dozens of) creators in attendence who hand out CDs like candy.

If *that's* not enough, you have RedWolf's CD/DVD distro.

I mean, how much more do you need?

It would just be kind of nice to have them on DVD I guess. I'd pay 0.02p for it.
I'm bored and you're dumb. A match made in heaven.

I think that would be okay.
As long as there is no profit made I see everything begin alright. But I have to point out how simply redundant this is. After all most editors make their own CDs and/or DVDs for con distribution anyway.

Now although Pie Row is right that most won't have an issue with this, it is still courteous to ask the respective creators for their permission.

Given one could argue, "Why should I ask permission for something when they are using someone else's footage and music?" but again, it's the courteous thing to do.

I imagine 99% will say "yes," but better to cover your bases.

Also as Willow said, if you make a profit, this is a no-no. As I just said, this is someone else's footage and music and you're breaking copyright laws the moment there's money made.

We should just get a forum section called "Ask Chang" ;)

Well, in the U.S. at least, you're breaking copyright law the minute you start to make that derivative work without prior authorization. The fact that money isn't (usually) being exchanged for these derivative works has kept many money-hungry people out of this hobby. For now.
