Is there any software that can read all files?

Post by DarKNightz » Thu Jan 15, 2004 11:12 pm

when I download stuff, I can only see a hanful of types of AMVs because they're made with somefin I don't have! I'd like to know a program that reads all types of files and plays them instead of downloading all the other software when I'll only use it a few times.

I like to install every codec separately, but you could try installing ffdshow. It should enable you to play back many filetypes in your media player of choice, and I've heard good things about it.

http://www.mplayerhq.hu

more specifically, you will probably want to try

http://www1.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/win32-beta/

mplayer quite literally plays just about anything. I don't know how well the Win32 version works but it DOES satisfy your criteria.

The best site for downloading everything you will ever need to view and create movies is www.doom9.org. Go to their FAQs section and many questions will be answered, or if you have something specific in mind just go to the download section and go crazy.

*something. The rest of your post was remarkably english, and I commend you for it. Nip stupidity in the bud, and don't type like that. I'll assume your 'd' key was broken... this time. Sorry, had I caught this post when you originally posted, I would have helped you sooner.
