Page Expired in IE6

This post is here as i think this might be a "bug" and the forum descriptions tell me to put this here.

Ok, i noticed that since the dbase move I now get page expired screens in IE when I try to use my back button. Its kinda annoying as it is faster than clicking on the links that return you to the previous pages and on some pages there is no choice, you have to hit back. Then you have to hit a button that says refresh contents. I know this is a security precation on IE's part, but it didn't used to do this. Not sure if it is due to a code change on IE or the sites part. This is the error I get.

I hit refresh and another diaglog box comes up saying i have to resubmit the information again, which i do of course, but its annoying. Is this a problem on my end or a site thing?

this kind of thing only happens to me when i try to hit back on a https site. it never happend to me on any other site. and the org seems to work fine for me when i do that. also shouldnt this go into site help.

o. u could also just use a different browser. netcaptor is a really good one. its more of a plug in for IE. it gives u tabs and other cool featers.

I know i could use something else, but as my IIS logs show me, about 65% of the people who hit my site use IE6.0. Which i currently use as well. I don't really want to change and since this problem occured around the time of the dbase move I am curious if there was something that was changed and if Phade was aware of it.

[speculation] On the old site, it was fairly bogged down with computing crap all the time to the point of overload. Since it was busy doing other things, it didn't bother to expire pages to keep itself from worring about it. But since the new server is much more efficient, it can bother to handle such trivial things.

OR

Since the new server has new versions of everything, perhaps the web server now correctly hands out expiration dates on dynamic pages (for this site, all pages).

I have seen no messages or issues with the browser I use. After using IE6 for a long time, I have determined that there are better browsers out there. People are just lazy, don't bother to look for them, and thus stick with the crap that seems to work most of the time and just put up with the issues. I'm a big fan of the Firefox browser (formally Firebird). It's small, fast, and seems to do things more correctly than IE, like pop-up blocking by default (man, it's been a long time since I've seen a pop-up ad or an unrequested sudden page redirect), tabed browsing (REALLY nice for having the forum, main site, admin, database, and MRTG open all in the same browser window, with window #2 with all my geek news sources), and a nice download manager.

But as to your specific issue, I think there may be a setting in IE to ignore that message and just display the page, but I'm not sure where it is.

Opera is a really nice browser also. In comparison to any Mozilla, it's very similar. Pop-up blockers, download manager, I don't know if it has tabbed windows or not, but Opera does, both are small and compatable with all 3 major OS's (Windows, Mac OS and Linux).

It's all a preference. I stuck with an older version of AIM (5.2) so I could use an older version of DeadAIM (3.2.8) to have my tabbed windows. Tabbed windows = sexy cause it doesn't take up 16 entries in the task bar...

I suppose this is misleading. Mozilla products are not GPLed. The terms imposed by the MPL, however, do satisfy the conditions for Free (as in freedom) software.

Fire Fox is a good browser. however opera cant handel css and css2 corectly. but i still like netcaptor the best of the 3.
