Really, it's that people get involved in a story regardless if it's a movie, book, or anime series. They care about the characters and want them to be happy. That's why sad stories make you cry even though they are fictional. It's actually a hallmark of a good telling and interesting characters.



Or, some people really do just have too much time on their hands.

i go with what you first said... you know the Horiscope signs right? (if you don't i feel sorry for you) well im a libra and i act way to much like one... i always get into the story... thats also why im selective to what i watch and read

Both is most likely. After all, without the spare time they don't come up with such bizarre ideas. But then, the very idea of an AMV probably owes its existance to too much spare time, so we shouldn't complain. Well, at least not too loudly. ;)
