I've found when showing AMV's to people, it's best to start off with a straight action vid. Somthing by Tsukin maybe, I would recomend bleed the sky but you wouldn't be able to show the whole thing. The reason I say this is that the first video has to catch their interest and be somthing very "cool" otherwise you run the risk of them dismissing it. Following videos can be pretty much anything as long as the first impression is good.

Maybe you could get your teacher to give you a little more time if you explain to her how your presentation involves showing videos. That max time limit is probably to fit everyone in to so much time, but it's also because you don't want to hear some kid going on and on about somthing. This might free up some time to talk about the huge variaty in the AMV world which you can hint at but never demonstrate with only three or four vids.

Best of luck!

I'd use Fluxmeister or Rubyeye.

I mentioned Tsukin because I have had success with his videos in the past. I've tried to show people videos that I really liked but I've been laughed at or ignored a lot so now I'm pretty careful. I try to show a first video that's fast and seizurific, and Epileptic Seizure studios fits the bill.

Remember the object is not to show the best action vid (though they are all good) but to show more mainstream ones to segway into the geeky culture of AMV's (don't deny it, if you make AMV's, your a geek.) Once I was showing a friend Mitternacht (great video) but he was losing interest fast. So I thought quick and said, "whoops, wrong video" and started Fluxmiester's Hellsing-Pompeii video. Instant success.

Failed Experiments in Video Editing is a great idea.

Watching it again, bleed the sky might be too graphic for a school project, check out "Look at Me Now" instead.

Hey everyone thanks for the replies. A lotta good ideas, i'm gonna do some downloading over the weekend. I am still not sure whether i'm goin towards the "how-to create" way or the "AMV history" way. I in fact never thought about doing AMV history, thanks dokool for that idea.

Yeah i never did mention that, but i'd like the AMV to be in a way where they can get the idea or whats going on. I don't want them to be confused. Also, i'm presenting in front of 3 teachers and 2 people from the school board, so lol Moneyshot wouldn't work. Also, our principal is an ass, so any swearing and such isn't gonna work...

Well thanks for the ideas i'm going to check these out and decide on which way i'm going with this thing.

Umm... lol, what are you saying? I mean... I don't know if you're agreeing or not. That's the whole reason I mentioned Fluxmeister, you just explained it for me... I didn't think it needed explanation. :P

But that's also the same thing with Rubyeye's Dark Legacy; every single person I've showed that to (that wasn't already into AMVs) has loved it. It's not flashy, but it's great action.

Another reason Rubyeye's Dark Legacy and Fluxy's Eternal Damnation would work great.

I find Odorikuruu best for a first exposure. I've even showed it to Goths before and they liked it. There's just something about it that's instant fun.

Same thing with "Stop the Rock?".

Odorikuruu was one of the first AMVs I saw: my younger brother downloaded it and showed it to me because he saw it had won a whole bunch of awards, including VCAs. Neither one of us saw the point/liked it, to be totally honest.

Maybe it was the song.

So how does it feel to have even less taste than a goth?

Sorry, couldn't resist. :D
