Oy oy oy, alright, been ripping and a skipping and a pullin my hair out, finally figured out how to rip files from my DVD and all, got a nice big movie file to work with, all is perfectly wiggy and nice and a-workin... I go into premiere 6.5, ready to work and to sweat and to bleed and to make video magic...
And there is NO Audio. Nope, not skipping, not garbled, NOTHING. Here's the trippy part~ Videos with audio, they work, no problems whatsoever. I've tried MP3, i've tried uncompressed Wav, no go, no dice. I even tried to simply make a video file with the audio I wanted, to underlay beneath my video... no dice. The file works perfectly in Adobe untill I put it on my timeline, but then nope, no go.
Mind you, nothing is muted. I've checked, double, triple, quadruple checked, there simply are no problems with my files, and as far as I know, my adobe settings. But Gyah, nothing seems to fix it!
Anyone else ever have this problem? Are there some sort of secret settings i'm not seeing, or am I just royally screwed? It worked earlier today, and I havn't changed the settings in Adobe since then, but just the same, it has totally stopped working, and I'm about 10 muinits from needing a new monitor. (Balls fists) Please, save my computor equipment and help me out!

eeh maybe
If youre file is an AVI then I'm not sure, I use Premiere 6 and the only files where I have a simular problem are WMV or RM. I would try ripping the audio again, just don't do the audio by it self because in my experience it won't come out as a wave file. Or maybe if you are using a compression for your AVI try another. Try Hiffyuv. Its large but you won't lose any information. I'm sorry if this doesn't work.

This comes 2 months alte, but let me see if I can help:
The file plays back correctly after you've imported it into Premiere but before you put it on the timeline, right? Does the audio file that you're trying to import work fine in Windows Media Player? Just where are you getting your audio from, anyway (CD, DVD, etc.)? When it's on the timeline, do you still see the little waveform?

Ask me about my secret stash of videos that can't be found anywhere anymore.
