Troublesome file

Post by Alpha_Hazard » Sat Mar 06, 2004 6:18 pm

Alright, So I have a corrupted AMV on my drive that says it's in use by another program when I try to delete it, and then my Explorer crashes. Can anybody tell me how I can delete this file (if I indeed can)

this should go into general video i believe. if it says that when your in the media player exit the player and try again this time go to the folder where it is and try deleting it from there. ive had those problems before and it seems to work. then redownload the vid.

1 - Close all programs. Try again.
2 - Reboot. The very first thing you do is try again.
3 - Curse out the computer. Try again.
4 - Reboot. While windows is loading up press and hold the CTRL key until it's totally loaded. Try again.
5 - Scream. Try again.
6 - If you're running WinMe or older boot into dos mode, delete it there, and wonder why you bothered trying the other five things.

Feel free to stop at whichever step worked, unless you're sadistic or something.

in the start menu, press the "execute" (or something like that I guess) button.

type "cmd"
you're in "light" dos mode.
from there you can delete the file using the command "del"

ex : "del c:\amv\myamv.avi"

Windows tries to display a preview of your video file, that's why it crashes.
