80's Punk rock AMV project?

Post by OtakuForLife » Thu Mar 04, 2004 5:26 pm

I have noticed a lack of 80's punk rock AMVs
Anyone interesting in attempting a Project Punk Rock?

Try some 80's "Hair Bands." I'll bet that would draw a few takers.

Hmm, that might work ....
My firends are thinking about starting a project using
andre 3000's famous 7 min techno mix a "a Few of my favorite things".
Probally lead up that project instead.

As far as a full-on project is concerned, I dunno. Most old-school punk songs aren't very lengthy, so it would probably be very difficult to get something cohesive out of it.

I actually did do a video to Social Distortion's "1945" 'bout a year or so ago, but I have yet to remaster it, so it's not up for download.

Interestingly enough, I also did a Gundam video to "Dr. Feelgood" by Mötley Crüe, but it wasn't very good. Remastering it helped a little, but not by much. If I can ever get a server for hosting, I might put it on there, cause I don't want to clog the org's server with it, especially since I went back, tweaked a few things (I believe), and turned it into one of my two Rammstein videos which are locally hosted.

Seriously, though, hair metal might be a little bit better choice, since a large portion of songs in that genre are quite long. "November Rain" from Guns N Roses, for example. (Sorry for that as an example, but it's the only thing I could think of off the top of my head)

I wouldn't be posting this last-minute retract of that punk rock comment I made had it not been for the song that just started playing on my MP3 playlist. Jello Biafra from Dead Kennedys teamed up with Alain Jourgensen and a couple of the other guys from Ministry and formed a band called Lard. They did an 8-and-a-half minute cover of "They're Coming To Take Me Away Ha-Ha" with Biafra on lead vocals. That would be really easy to do a multi-editor project with, especially with the wackiness of the song, although it is incredibly repetitive. It actually sounds like a cross-fusion of the Kennedys with Ministry, with the emphasis on Ministry, but I'd love to see that done into a video, just to see what could be done with it.

I do have a video in mind for use with the Misfits Last Caress but it's a live action video. I haven't really had that many anime ideas for awhile and the ones I do have I don't seem to get around to making too quickly. But they shall be done!.........eventually :D
