Attention AMV Creators: Someone might be selling your AMVs!

arent amvs flat out illegal, how can you make money off of them and i defintly think that if someone wants to use my amvs i would defintly want to be asked first.

Legally, yes, AMVs are in a state of limbo. They're good advertisement for the band and anime you use (well, assuming you do a good job), but they break many provisions of copyright law.

It's a good idea to stop AMV auctions if only for this reason. If the auctioneer gets caught, the line of legal retaliation could easily reach from the seller all the way back to the creator.

The important point here is that AMV´s are getting negative press if someone prints articles like : Illegal Anime Videos found on ebay!

We all (more or less) know that AMV´s are a form of advertising for the
involved parties. That is why they let it slip. Since nobody is making money of it, there is also no reason to sue since no lawyer would take on such a case. But when ppl use these works to gain money, that is when the copyright issue kicks in (and rightfully). Since DRM,Copyright and digital distribution in general is being disputed these days and the RIAA and MPAA
would like to see a world where we pay for fair use and their greed-inflated
buisiness plans, this is a very delicate matter. Therefore, we should find out about that person and try to communicate to him what damage he is doing to a LARGE community. Any Kevin Mitnicks here that want to help out?
