His other short film "Kumo no mukou, Yakusoku no basho" seems to be pretty highly rated also. Might want to give that one a try if you're a fan of his style.

Voices of a Distant Star, in my opinion, was worth my money. I have seen a lot worse and a lot more of it too. So VoaDS is pretty good.

I can't go without saying this, even if it is a spoiler... I wouldn't read it if you haven't seen VoaDS, as it would ruin the entire thing for you:
It kills me to think that in the time between when she left and died, he would not recieve her last message for what? 20 years? Even then he would not know of her demise. To wait that long... I can't help but feel sorry for him even if he isn't real. On the other side of the same coin, her story is no less painful. Dying that far from everything she ever knew, at that age too. Makes you wonder if her existence will ever be recognized even if in some sort of memorial on Earth.
