Lupin III

ok, ive been confused about lupin. The anime is quite old i believe, and what they talk about in the english version is stuff that is happening currently. Like when they talked about WWII fujiko said 60 years ago(so that would mean it was around late 1990's/early 2000's. But the Berlin wall was in that episode as well...Also, other references were made that I cant remember. Did they just add this stuff to the mix when they were doing the english translation of Lupin or what? I havent watched the episodes I have in japanese yet, but does anyone know? Thanks

Finally, a Lupin topic! I know exactly the episode you're talking about. The series is almost 300 episodes, I believe, along with multiple movies. I'm not sure about your reference to the Berlin Wall or the 60 years ago thing, but Lupin is an amazing anime and I highly recommend you to watch it as much as you can.

Pioneer decided to update the script for the English dub. Hence, if you watch it subbed, you won't get stuff like Jigen making reference to Ebay and the like.

Good point. I remember something said about ebay as well. Hm. I never thought it feasable to change the dialogue to an old anime like that. Interesting, to say the least.

I completely agree. I just wonder sometimes what the original dialogue was, but the new script is so cool, it isn't that important.

I say watch some of the movies that are licensed and fansubbed, and you'll get enough satifaction of Lupin III. Man, this series is sort of all over the place in terms of licensing. I mean Geneon got rights to the series and Funimation and Manga Entertainment got one of the movies.
