My average size for a video is 6 gigs of huffyuv clips - whether I'm using 100 anime titles, including over 200 individual episodes (which would be what did we say? .5 gigs per episode if I were to edit from avs?). No matter what my sources are (the number of vobs being used - a *lot* for some anime where the episodes are more than 100 - YYH) - I still average 6-7 gigs total to get more than enough footage for a 5-6 minute vid. And that's including an extra 1-2 gigs of clips so I can 'change my mind' later.

I just plan the vid out and know what clips I want to use ahead of time. If I *really* plan the video, I can get it all in 3-4 gigs. That's using huffyuv. But I only have 20 gigs free on my comp at any time (a total of 60, but most of it's full). If I edited from avs files (keeping the vobs on my harddrive), I'd never be able to do vids for long anime, let alone multi-anime vids. I'd need a few hundred free gigs just to store all the vobs - and that would be dumb if I were only going to use two clips from one vob.

I like planning and huffyuv - saves space, saves time (no scanning when you make the vid - the clips are already separated), and means you know what you're doing before you begin - so you don't get halfway through a vid and then run out of ideas - you never start until you have the video already made in your mind.

Well, my first video was done with 10 gb of free space and it's pretty nice quality (for Eva). However, my other two videos used up 25.9 gb and 28.6 gb of a 160 gb HDD... so it just depends on how much work you want to do.

I use avs, and I love it.

makes sense, the video quality of ur second two videos Consequences of War and Delicate Beauty were much better than What Romance Entails..., well i wouldn't really go as far as wayyyy better, but they were superior... at least :D

I have about 12 gigs left on a 120 gig drive which is all dvd source (three 26 ep series and two movies). 320gigs in my system total. I'd recommend as large of a drive as you can afford... and a fast one too.

You can edit on a much smaller harddrive though. A great example is movies. They don't require nearly as much space as an entire series.

Well, the encode for Delicate Beauty was actually quite a bit worse than What Romance Entails. DB was almost the same filesize, and half as long.

Didn't know you were working on another video, thought you were too busy with school and work. Good luck with it. ^_^ If you need any help, you know... I could just come over and edit it for you. :P
