Sell me on....L/R (Licensed By Royalty)

Post by badmartialarts » Thu Feb 19, 2004 8:43 am

Okay, I vaguely recall reading a good review of the manga. I noticed the DVDs on sale. The blurbs sound intriguing, sort of a Noir meets James Bond. Should I burn some cash? Or (and this is my fear), am I about to recreate an incident in my past I can only refer to as the 'FAKE' incident *shudder*?

From what I've heard it's a "detective" type series. and how could that be bad, well it could but it's not all that likely. Actually it's something that went completely under my radar (hopefully not because it's crap) only noticed it on the Madman release schedule just last Sunday.

While I haven't seen or hard all that much about it, I'm willing to take a gamble on it.

Here's the (somewhat humorously attempted) ad for the series from Japanese Newtype. It's actually written mostly in English:
L/R ad wrote:PIONEER LDC PRESENTS THE ANIMATION 13 EPISODES

In 2003... you will meet the extraordinary cool Agents in all fiction.... Their intelligent, elegance and secret past will be fashion. And everything they touch will turn to excitement.... How do I call this story? This is straight pillow fantasies of the bang-bang, kiss-kiss variety. They are called L/R... who are... 'Licensed by Royal'.

MISSION- "OPERATION DVD" 3.2.1 START

YUJI UEDA as Row Rickenvacker

HIROAKI HIRATA as Jack Hofner

L/R
I think the Engrish there is quite classic. And 'everything they touch will turn to excitement' is of course stolen from James Bond.
