Theres more to it than just 'Girls with Guns'. Theres a sub-plot to it about Kirika and her past. Granted the first episodes were drug out, but it does pick up at the third DVD. I have 5 and I'd watch it but I don't have 4 and it boggles the mind to figure out how that happned

That's precisely what I was getting at, you know.
To clarify: I meant that if you're looking for a show that's just about girls with guns, Noir is not it. It's really not about girls with guns doing cool stuff at all very much, even if they're attractively placed on the cover.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Noir is one of those series that I felt proud for finishing. Its a long, SLOW 26 episodes. The series does get noticably better when Chloe comes in, but I honestly can't say the show was worth watching until episode 13, when they FINALLY started making me care about the Characters, and by characters I mean Kirika, no one else really, just her. I almost cared for Chloe, maybe if she was developed more (she was definitely cool and fun to watch).
None of my anime watching friends liked noir or were even able to stomach more than the first 2 episodes. I can't really blame them, the show was very slow, there was very little story, most episodes were filler, the first half of the show regularly had Mireyu and Kirika going to different world locations to once again kill hundreds of bad guys in suits. The music was generally utter crap and very repititious (the goddess like battle theme wasnt bad). When the series actually started to get halfway good (episodes 20+) the plot went way down hill and took some series logical liberties. I guess the only reason I liked this show at all was because Kirika reminded me a little of Rei from Eva. All that being said, I definitely would not watch the show again, but it wasnt an offensively bad series, its just very, very slow for an action anime. Some of the action was pretty inovative, like Kirika killing a man with his own sunglasses. 8)
Overall it ends up as an average anime series, but barely.
To the person that created this thread, I don't know if I can advise watching any more of the show, but I will tell you that you've already seen the most boring part of the show, it only gets better after the 2nd dvd, although thats not saying a whole lot. I personally enjoyed VicBonds Noir AMV a lot more than the show, and he pretty much covers all of the show's highest points.

I have only watched the first 2 episodes and then i stopped. ( I rented the first DVD from local store)
i dunno if i should rent it again and actually finish it. Then again, I am struggling hard to get my friend to watch cowboy bebop and he has done the same thing i did here. watched 2 episodes then just decided to not go on.

I have to say, someone who can't stand more than two episodes of bebop, thats rare. I think the show is overrated, but it was definitely one of the best examples of a mass appeal anime that I have seen.tfc_masta wrote:I have only watched the first 2 episodes and then i stopped. Wow, that is pretty rare, but then again, I won't watch eva again. Some shows just don't "click" with people.Kearly wrote: I have to say, someone who can't stand more than two episodes of bebop, thats rare. I l0v3d noir. Noir 0wnz0r. I thought the story k1ck3d azz. 1 wuz impr3ss3d with it, the story was in-depth and suitably deep for me, and I was 1n withdrawls from 3v4ng3l1on. Of course, there was a lot of bullshit in it, but Noir 0wnz0r anyways.

*bangs head on his desk*
I was barrowing the series from a friend... but she only has the 1st two DVD's and I'm saving my money up for A-Kon... By the sound of it... this series doesn't sound like a series i would want to spend ANY money on...

Heh... I dunno what people say, but I maintain that, I think, people just ought to see it for themselves and see if they like it or not. It isn't the most widely-appealing show, yea, but there are plenty of people who'd probably think it's better than what the critics say if they went out and saw the whole thing for themselves.
In other words, *I* think that's one of those series that deserves at least one try with people.
