video won't show up

video won't show up

Ok, on alot of the videos I have downloaded, the video doens't show up, it just plays the music. is there a way to fix this?

I apologize if something is said about this elswhere, I have looked and not seen it.

so, can anyone help me?

You may have the infamous DivX codec issue. If you have 5 installed (it sounds like you do), then uninstall it. Then, install 3.11. After that, reinstall 5. If that doesn't fix your problem, chances are it's not that.

um... I didn';t unsderstand any of that, oh you mean DirX, I'm using version 9. if that's not what yu mean, then Iassume its some sort of player? I use winamp, does that have anyhting to do with it?

no, not DirectX!

DivX (with a 'v') is a very common video codec. It can be found and downloaded for free if you search for it.

Download the codec pack, that should solve virtually all of your codec issues.

Hi, I'm having the same problem. I went to the site that was posted, and after searching around I installed DivX 3.1 alpha. However, I still recieve a codec-related error everytime I try to run the videos. Is there anything else I need to do, or did I install the wrong thing? Thanks in advance.
