I just got a new computer. The new one works with Windows 98, but my old one used Windows 95. When I transfered my video downloads, they all messed up! The only video clips that are ok are the ones for Real Player.
The problem with my vids is that they are skipping and going too fast. A 6 minute clip is now about 50 seconds long. Does anyone know what the problem is and/or what I can do to fix it? (plugins/patches, re-download, ect. ????)
Thanks!

I sounds like your processor is being bogged down. What other program do you have running while you watch your videos?(as in are there a bunch of little icons in the bottom right hand corner of you screen)Its possible that you need to get some codecs reinstalled but i find that unlikely though it is *possible*.What is the aspect ratio on the files in question?(If you are using windows media player you can find out by opening a video then clicking "File",then "Properties",then click the "details" tab from there.)Also is the computer itself new or did you jsut put Windows 98 on the old computer? answering some of these questions may help us in helping you.

I was using Windows Media Player to view the clips. And the computer is new! I just transfered everything from my old computer to new one and changed from W95 to W98.
I also made a strange discovery: I was goofing around with a screen saver maker program and tried to use some my media files, and they worked just fine when previewed through that program! Now I'm really confused!

First, try updating your codecs. www.doom9.org
You can also try downloading the most current version of the windows media player from microsoft, this fixes a lot of problems.
Media Player
If this doesn't fix your problem, try another player.
Real, Winamp, divx, quicktime, Nero... etc.
When you moved from win95 to win98, you probably didn't get all of the .dll files and codecs that you had originally. Assuming that you installed the new OS, and just copied everything over. That's why you can't just say, slap in an old "D:" drive on a new computer and have everything work.
