That is unusual. Thay should start the pre-reg as soon as possible considering how many people will be attending. It will probably be up within the next few weeks, or whenever somebody starts sending them complain e-mails.

Yeah, we [Otakon] got our butts stomped by mail-in Preregistration in 2003... there were thousands of them to type in (literally), and there was only one guy to do it all at the beginning.

After we realized what a problem it was becoming, we were able to get him help to get it all done, but everything took much too much time, and we made too many errors while we were getting caught up.

This year Preregistration is working up some kind of online pre-reg system which will hopefully give us good accuracy and fast turnaround time. Deadlines and cutoff dates have been posted at http://www.otakon.com, and as soon as the system goes live, we'll definitely be posting something on our web site.

AMV coordinator from '97-'03...that wouldn't be Duane Johnson, would it? hehehe...

Either way though, has there been any word on deadlines and formatting requirements for digital AMV submissions for this year?

Duane was Senior AMV dude for 2002 and helped out with the contest for several years before that. I was hoping he'd take over for 2003 but it was not to be.... :(

I forget what the submission deadline is but there's a thread over in the Contests forum about it.

As for tech requirements... from what I've heard, it's exactly the same requirements as last year -- use OtakuVideo's Tsunami MPEG profiles and encode in high quality and you should be okay. Again check out the Contests forum.
