I don't know a thing about Northgate, but I personally have a Samsung 17" DVI monitor and have some advice when buying:

First make sure you buy a DVI capable monitor. Buying an only analog display is more or less like just having a thin monitor. You get no advantages in quality. You'll be paying significantly more than say those $200 BestBuy LCD's, but again those aren't DVI. I have a DVI monitor and if you have a DVI video card (likely?) the quality is GREAT. I can't even look at normal CRT monitors anymore :-P

If you don't have the card, still buy a DVI capable LCD since you could use it once you get a DVI video card (the future). It's worth it in the longrun and well I love the quality difference. Oh yeah and it doesn't hurt your eyes as much.

Secondly, look at the refresh rate it can handle (60 Hz or higher?) and the seek time (< 25 ms? or was it 250?). This is necessary so that your monitor can keep up with games and stuff that change really quickly.

I'll write more if I think of it, but keep these stats and things in mind before buying.

Based on the description, I don't think it's DVI, but you can ask. That's the biggest thing for me when I bought an LCD and it really makes things look nice.
