Box sets are always so damn expensive, it's a pain in the ass. Even if you only buy one of those boxes that comes with the first DVD it's ten bucks more than the DVD would've been alone. Is a pretty cardboard container worth that much? Though that Kenshin one was really nice.

Actually I find Box Sets fairly nice. Plus I got mine very cheap (don't know if they;re bootlegs though....they are extremely good quality). I got the entire Cowboy Bebop Box set for bout $30.99

Awesome! Where'd you get them? Anime Sensei II (Ah, what the hell, I'll just refer to him as Wolfwood from now on) might be interested.

I remember seeing this really nice special edition Eva DVD in a metal tin...at least I think it was Eva...I just remember thinking "WOW!!! That's so cool! Oh, wait, it's expensive as hell...never mind."

Hong Kong

Hong Kong one of the greats cites in the world and yet it has so many different problems with drugs, slaves and copied media. This city once belonged to China then England made a deal with China that they would ‘rent’ it for a century. It was under British rule from 1900 to 2000. Now Hong Kong is a city/state and is on its own until china can take possession of it in 2010 as was written in the original agreement. So now Hong Kong is on its own and is the drug/slave and bootleg capital of the world.

The first major problem in Hong Kong is bootleg (copied media) trade. 95% of the media in Hong Kong is a copy and is sold for very little money. This is a major problem because people are buying it from there over the internet and hurting the industries that make the media. This problem could be fixed easily by dropping the prices of media in other countries because now the prices are ridiculous. The reason people are buying the media from Hong Kong is because the bootlegs are just like the original media but much cheaper so they don’t see a need to spend more money for the same project.

Secondly a major problem in Hong Kong is the drug trade and the Triad (Chine’s mafia). The Triad supplies the people in Hong Kong with drugs and runs the city underground because they have their people everywhere. Also when you have money and drugs in a poor nation you can control everything because let’s face it people are corrupt.

And lastly the slave trade in China is a major problem. A very common thing to do for parents in china is if they have more then one child they will sell it to the Triad for little money because they are to poor to afford one child also if they have more then one they get taxed like crazy. The Triad gets the money to buy these slaves by selling bootlegs and drugs there for people in the U.S.A and other countries are supporting the slave trade by buying bootlegs and not even knowing it. The slaves are then shipped in crates on ships to other countries to and sold there to work in mines/factories and other places because it’s free labor.

I think the problems in Hong Kong will get much worse before they get better because they have gone from a century of British rule where they had everything they needed and were democratic, to ruling themselves, so why would they want to be taken by communist China. I am afraid that riots will break out and maybe even if the worst happens a war. But hopefully Hong Kong’s sad story will be resolved with little or no bloodshed and they will be able to solve all the current problems.

I got the last series (Shimbara Qrc to last episode) of Rurouni Kenshin for $40.99 (its no longer up there...it was all Japanese).

Got Hellsing Box Set for bout $20.99, Outlaw Star for $30.99 and Gundam 8th MS Team for $20.99.

Like I said, these DVD's are very good in quality so i doubt they are bootlegs.

Also non-bootleg boxset tend to be cheaper than buying the series disk by disk, the range varying depending on the series.

Although this buying the box + first disk trend is a drag.

I can tell just by looking at the cover art that they are bootlegs (since they often use art that is different from the official release for whatever reason).

the differance between bootlegs and real:
bootlges usaly have a diff cover pic then the original
bootlegs are usaly on 3 or 4 cd's as opposed to the oridingal 6 or 7
bootlegs are mostly from hong kong
bootlegs usaly have a chaines sub and sometimes no american sub/dub
bootlegs are much much cheaper then the real thing
