Video Idea (Princess Tutu/Queen)
Hey...I've had this idea for a while, and since I don't have the tools or knowlege to make it, I just thought I'd share.
Has anybody here seen the anime 'Princess Tutu'?
Because I think that if somebody made a PT video using the Queen II songs 'White Queen' and 'March Of the Black Queen' (by Queen, of course), it would really rock.
Just think of the visuals, the white and the black an' all that...

Eh, true.
But there are some sweet, quiet, almost classical-like moments in those songs, and as it's 'Queen II' you can bet your sweet bippy that there's fantasy.
For me, it's just easy to see the white and black tutus and visuals melding with that of the White Queen and Black Queen, and things like the row of crow men and the Prince getting controlled fitting in...
Besides, I've taken a look at some of the songs used for the PT videos that do exist, and they sure ain't classical.

Tutu or not Tutu, I'd love to see videos to said song(s), Queen II being my favorite Queen album.
If it seems to work, then someone dew it. I haven't seen Tutu, so I can't comment as yet.

I don't think 'Princess Tutu' has been released over here yet, or if they actually will release it. I really hope they do, as it kicks butt and chews bubblegum.
Though I will admit, I'm sure there's plenty of nifty stuff that could be done with Queen II's 'White Queen', 'March of the Black Queen', and the 'Ogre Battle/Fairy Feller's Master Stroke/Nevermore' epic.

Princess Tutu Video
I have one (primarily) Princess Tutu video using the song "Echoes" from the Pink Floyd album "Meddle". It's not classical, but it is primarily instrumental - and, being Floyd, it has a lot of depth and goes through quite a few turns in its 23 minute course. You can find it here:
"Flying Motionless Above the Waves"
Sounds: Pink Floyd - Echoes
Animes: Princess Tutu, Cowboy Bebop
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=33951
The Bebop section of the video is there because there's a part of the song that didn't really fit Tutu, and I noticed a lot of visual paralells betwenn Mute/Fakir and Vicious/Spike, their fights and the falling scenes of the latter half of each pair (as well as the fact that both are friends that had come into opposition due to circumstances beyond their immediate control).
As to making a Tutu video to the Queen songs, I love Queen, but I don't have those two songs, so I'd have to go get them before I decide whether or not a video using them would be feasable - but if it is I will certainly try (though anyone else up to the challenge should also go at it, it's not like we'd be making yet another duplicate DBZ/Linkin Park/Evenscence video).
And as always I'd love to get an opinion of the "Echoes" video from anyone who watches it and feels they have something to suggest or say. I think its length has probably scared of reviews (but not so much the downloads) for this piece.

Aha! I thought I reconized the charicters on your avatar Savia, but I couldn't remember where I'd seen them. Princess tutu is an anime I've been trying to get my hands on for a little while without much luck. If anyone is interested, check out rose4emily's video as it gives a pretty good idea of what it's all about.

oh, and about the nature of princess tutu:
princess tutu spans three somewhat overlapping realities that, like a few old star trek episodes, move toward convergence as the story progresses. my video only depicts one of the three - the fantasy within the fantasy in which ahiru (the main character who's name means "duck") is tutu and (so as to not give too much away) everyone else is somewhat transformed in a wizard-of-oz-esque way. i chose that portion of tutu's story because of its incredable beauty and an abstract, mood-inspiring nature which goes well with the song i chose (or almost any other floyd song, for that matter). the "real-world", on the other hand, has a different artistic style, and a very different feel to it, providing a strong dose of comedy along with some character development and a bridge between the inner fantasy and the outer fantasy, the third realm which the storyteller drosselmeyer inhabits and from which he directs the lives of the people in ahiru's town.
because it has 26 episodes to work with (and it puts every one of them to good use), tutu manages to pack laughter, tears, enough fantasy for a tolkien novel, and enough philisophical questions of existance and determinism to give the matrix a run for its money. of couse you're free to just laugh at ahiru's awkwardness, or gaze in awe at tutu's grace, but there are many layers to this anime for those who like to be moved, amused, intrigued and inspired all at once by the same thing. damn awesome storywriting if you ask me. watch it. you will like (or, if you don't, you should go back to pokemon and dragonball z, some people can't quite take a mature mahou shojou and appreciate it for what it's worth).
look at it this way - it's simple enough, on one level, to be appreciated by a child as a child's fairy tale, and complex enough, on another, to provide inspiration and examples for a long academic essay on the convergence of contemporary eastern art and traditional western myth, or the symbolism of god as a storyteller and man as the story, or the presentation of ideas and emotions without words through the use of music and dance, or the forms of love in human relationships, and the list goes on. there's even some perfectly good fight scenes for the guys out there (as much as i loved the dance scenes, it wouldn't have been quite the same without fakir's swordplay). just plain awesome.
and yes, i guess i am a bit of a fanboy where this one is concerned. as far as i'm concerned, if you're going to like something, you might as well be enthusiastic about it. makes you really enjoy whatever it is you are being enthusiastic about.
