Just a stupid question...

In alot of downloaded anime footage, how do people screw up the encoding so badly that you get laggy footage as seen in most dbz videos and some RK. How the hell do they screw up so badly :?

Heh, I've wondered this myself. Sometimes I think it's a hiccup in the compression that just made the program freeze on certain frames and hold there so the rest seems to jerk back into motion. Other times I'm sure it's the source footage itself being so poor that there are strips of information missing and the player freezes tring to find that before going ahead without it.

Neither are true, I'm sure, but those are the ideas that pop up when I see vids lag like that. ^_^ It would be nice to know what really is to blame...

Most videos on my computer lag anyways, because I have a p2 333... When I use a faster machine to play them, it goes much better

I always assumed it was a problem of too few keyframes causing the computer to work too hard. I have several videos that I had always assumed had a corrupted download or screwed encode because they always dropped a few seconds in exactly the same place of the song however once I got a new, faster, computer I've noticed they play flawlessly.
