Animated Feature Oscar Nominations announced

I can't argue with The Triplets of Belleville (if you haven't seen this yet, rush to a theatre screening it and enjoy) or Finding Nemo, but for Brother Bear to get a nomination over Millenium Actress? It's as ridiculous as Master and Command or Seabiscut getting a nomination for best pictu.. oh.

Award shows aren't about quality, they're about money. They nominate the movies/films/singers that are most popular and will therefore draw the most ratings for the show, not the ones that were actually the best. That's why I don't bother watching them.

They do Alucard?

I guess thats why they nominated The Barbarian Invaders, after all its box office gold and everyone seen and talked about it.

Yes, it would of been nice if they nominated Millenium Actress (that was one the best movies I've ever seen animation or not) but they always do this (have good and bad choices).

This year sees quite a few surprising choices both good (The girl from Whale Rider getting nominated) and bad (Why do I have a feeling that Diane Keaton didn't give quite the same performance as everyone else nominated)

Don't take this as defending the academy thought, I still pissed about Momento (I mean it was the best film in 10 years dammit, it should of been nominated.)

Obviously there are exceptions, smartass. Sometimes a movie comes along that is so good that regardless of it's performance at the box office, it would be a crime against humanity not to nominate it. But for the most part what I said is true. How many awards has Freinds been nominated for? How many nominations did Titanic get. Most of the time, nominations != quality.

Never trust award ceremonies. They're a reflection of precisely nothing. Except perhaps commercial mainstream interest.
