Great screencaps, Madbunny!

Also, I'm not sure anyone mentioned this: There are male persocoms too.

Now, I like Chobits. I can see why some people wouldn't. What I like about it is that we see some real characters devolop and change through out the series. Chi start's off as an innocent child and then grows up. We also see the other characters change as well and how their lives have been effected by persocoms.

It's funny how so many people have made the Hideki/Chii relationship into this SM thing.

People, it's a romance. Cutesy, kinda cheesy, high improbable, a bit strange at moments, perverted at others, but a romance nonetheless.

And what's wrong with girls who fall in love with the first guy they date? My cousin married her first boyfriend, who she'd been dating since she was 15, and they're very happy. It IS possible, ya know.

yea, all the extremist ideas are always bad. Kinda like the XFL and the Republican Party. Just because she dosn't know any better dont mean that she's gonna be ur "mindless love slave" or the fact that Hideki is gonna manipulate her so that she loves only him. Now, i havnt seen past episode 4 because i waiting for my anime to STOP FLOATING AROUND THE WORLD >_<''

There it is. That Second sentence holds no solid ground in the Anime. Hideki is trying to teach Chii right from wrong, and to help her along as a parent would .. granted the story could get alittle wierd, but its not now. So, Why Make it.

Ok I will concede the point that women store fat differently than men, but Im still trying to find the part where because Hideki is nice to Chii that automatically labels him as trying to manipulate her and make her his love slave.

Heres a novel concept...Hideki was raised on a farm with traditional values where women are respected, hence his trying to encourage Chii to be her own person.

And not all women date around. IIRC in Japan arranged marriages while not as common anymore do still happen.

And Its not that I am a fanboy rabidly defending my favorite show, since Chobits is not my favorite show. I am sick and tired of the attitude that just because a show has cute anime girls in it it has to be sexist and degrading. There are certainly some anime shows that are like that but I dont feel Chobits is like that, and Hideki certainly didnt exhibit that behavior toward any of the girls in Chobits.

So obviously we are not understanding me when I say "wish fulfillment". I am not saying Hideki used Chii as a sex slave, I am not saying he abused her. I am saying a great part of the attraction to these types of anime is a "loser" male holding some sort of power over an attractive female--what he does with the power is irrelevant, it is the power itself that pulls in many viewers. Much anime is based on a weird gender power-structure in Japan, and many of the hardcore anime fans (otaku) in Japan are, frankly, dateless losers. Chobits-Tenchi-etc is made for these otaku--male characters they can relate to being put in positions of desirability that they would never obtain in real life. Hence the wish fulfillment. Chii is a more extreme case of this--the "loser" male being put in control of a gorgeous, sweet female who is completely willing to do whatever he wishes. The concept is the wish fulfillment, the fanservice adds to it. We're talking concept here, not actual characters. Don't worry--I'm making no assault on darling Hideki except to point out his relatively low status in the society he lives in.
