Mamoru Oshi seems to have a fetish for 'The total anarchial downfall of Japan' Even in the 1989 Patlabor OVA he featured Tokyo surcumming to an insurection. Then he had ANOTHER insurrection in Patlabor II.

Add in Jin-Roh and the entire Hell Hound thing... This man seems to have issues with The Establishment or at least it's fragility.

Actually, they did. Japan got the designs for several of Germany's "superweapons" from the Nazis (jet-powered and rocket-powered aircraft, and even rockets), and were able to recreate (and in some cases, even IMPROVE on) these designs. Fortunately, WWII ended before Japan made major use of these weapons.

Amazing what you can learn from watching the History Channel.

After watching that amazing movie Jin Roh, I remeber seeing DVDs for something called wolf brigade, and then in New type there were a bunch of DVDs with pictures of the soldiers in Jin Roh, but none of the DVDs were called Jin-Roh. I was just wondering, is there more to Jin Roh then Just the movie from studio IG?
You might have seen the 3 DVD set of LIVE ACTION movies. There was "The Red Spectacles" and "Talking Head" and something else. They're LIVE ACTION movies by the same director (or whatever) behind Jin Roh.
Just trying to get across the LIVE ACTION thing to not mistake it for anime. They caught my eye a while back. I'm just going to stick to the anime.

Seeing how we are talking Jin Roh thought I ask something.

The movie uses symbolism from the story "Little Red Ridding Hood". Now my question is the paticular story of Red Ridding Hood they use wasn't familar with me, is that how the story is told in Japan or is it one of the earlier varations of the tale.

Isn't there I scene in in Jin-Roh where this girl gets brutally killed and eaten by wolves? Or am I thinking of some other anime?

I'm guessing that it's the original Brothers Grimm Fairy Tale version, seeing as how the cover of the book has a German title. Basically, think of Little Red Ridding Hood before it was Disnefied. There was no woods man and there was no closet for grandma to hide in. I'm not an expert, but the Brothers Grimm versions are usually different from the ones people hear in kindergarden.
Probably too busy to be here right now.

Yep, that was in Jin-Roh. Sort of a dream sequence.

The word in question is 'symbolism'. It has nothing on how the story itself is told in different countries. The guy who did the story for Jin Roh used the concept of "Little Red Riding Hood" as a front for the movie. It's not really any direct influence for the movie, though the scenes from the movie reflect on the story..and they directly quote some parts. All the wolf 'symbolism' can be be a good example.

Something I could think of to compare would be perhaps the movie "Underworld" were it based itself around the concept from Romeo and Juliet, though it it no way directly relates itself upon the story. Hell the two 'lovers' lived at the end o.O.

It's kinda like Eva and all the religious references. Though Eva isn't really about religion itself, it uses religious 'symbolism' to carry the story.

A little something called 'Ghost In The Shell'. Heh.
