No no no. First you watch the first half of the movie. Then you watch the second half of episode 25. Then you watch the movie up to the point where Rei and Shinji shake hands. Then watch Episode 26. Then watch the rest of the movie. Then watch the first half of episode 25. Then watch Death and Rebirth. Then kill yourself. Then watch the Director's Cut of episode 21. Then watch the Matrix Reloaded. Then listen to Reanimation until you wish you could kill yourself a second time. Then watch the movie again. THEN it will all make sense.

I've only seen it once all the way through, but now I can't stop making Eva videos. Some songs just seem to fit so well.

But I still have yet to make (or watch!) a pointless mecha action video.

Personally, the first time I saw the last two episodes, I was thinking "wow, this is some pretty deep philo/psych they're spouting... I'm going to have to go back through these two episodes and re-watch them in order to get it all."

Then I saw the sudden unexpected sickeningly happy ending and I thought "Screw it."

Then I saw Death, Rebirth, and EoE. If there's one thing I liked about the movies, it's that they explained (mostly through Misato, Fuyutsuki, and some others I can't remember) an awful lot of things that were left unexplained by the series.
The first time I saw the end of End of [repetition intentional] Evangelion, I was left with a sense of "That's IT?!", but came to realize that there really wasn't much more to be told as far as the story went.

Yeah, not much left to tell except Asuka waking up from her coma and coming to grips with her mom; Misato bitching at Shinji about how much of a loser he is; Shinji actually listening to Misato and being willing to get off his ass and rescue Asuka, only to find that he can't; Rei finally turning against Gendo; Shinji finally giving Asuka the strangling that she SO had coming... no, none of that was really important.

As always, I will be happy to talk about EVA with anyone who really wants to talk about it. You can e-mail me or send me a private message.

I am fairly well versed in the show...

But... the show attempts to tackle some very complicated themes and some very hard topics. It is FAR from the first title to do so... there are many books and movies that deal with similar topics (since the show is dealing with the very questions of the human condition.... issues and questions that are universal)

The show is MEANT to create discussion and conversation.

Many of the people who I have seen bitching about Evangelion are people who need SOLID answers... they will never be happy because the show offers no solid answers... just as LIFE doesn't give us any solid ansers.

Almost all the complaints I have read follow that theme and all I can say is that the show is NOT a math problem.

I'd be happy to talk about the show with anyone who wants to talk about the show.
