The endings to Evangelion.

Okay, because I know these were eventually gonna appear in this place, I suppose I should get this thread up for the Eva fans. Though I'm not gonna include anything insightful in this because I have yet to see the ending to the series itself, I can't be that all helpful in the discussion. Anywho the purpose of this thread if it isn't deleted immediately is for the regulars who like to discuss Eva, to discuss the endings in a non-flamatory matter, and hopefully have this as a sticky to prevent the topic from ever reappearing only to repeat again. In other words, make this the one and only discussion on the "End" of Eva thread. Lets try to have all questions and answers here.

OMG that was so awesome!

The new movies, while nicer to look at than the stick figure theater that happens in the originals are no more explanatory. I thought someone had taped over my cassette with a totally different movie the first time I saw it. Turns out that would have been better.

The first half of the movie is "OMG that was so awesome!"
The second half of the movie is "WTF was that?"

Episodes 25+26 are both "WTF, is that CRAYON? These guys are doing the last two episodes as a f-cking crayon slideshow? Third Impact is a bunch of people sitting in chairs in a dark room talking to themselves about how much they hate themselves? This show sucks ass!"

I kind of prefer the movie ending, because some parts of it actually made sense and you have Fuyutsuki there to tell you WTF is going on. And because they actually bring up new emotions and character growths instead of rehashing what we've already seen.

I think this thread is a little too general and can go just about anywhere so I'm moving it back to General Anime. If someone could compile links to the other, more substantial Evangelion threads, we could post them here and sticky them, as this IS such a popular topic for debate though.

Or I suppose you could try to persuade me to move it back.

i think a sticky topic on 'Neon Genesis Evangelion' itself would be more useful because ppl come up with almost as many questions about the series itself than just the ending

i don't see why ppl flame the original ending so much, i think if you really feel so strongly against it, then it's only because u've been spoiled with eva's beautiful look and have not seen enough of eva's purpose
i'm not saying this is everyone, because from what i see, no matter how much more ppl like EoE (End of Evangelion) they at least still acknowledge the original ending, so don't take this the wrong way, i'm not saying that you HAVE TO prefer the original, the remake has it's advantages, but the original is a great ending in it's own right

what was interesting to find out was that EoE was the original intended ending for the series, but what i don't like is people flaming the TV ending just because it was different, if you pay attention during the 'crayon' sequence, they try to break down the basics of existence for Shinji, letting go of some of ur freedom to have security.

well heres what i have to say about the movie
The original ending was great as well as the movie
now if youwatch the first half of the movie then the two original eps followed by the second half of the movie the series make a hell of alot more sense as well as the movie
