Scratch that, you did say it was for a gift. If you have a PSX/PS2, you could always borrow your friend's copy with some excuse.

First of all, if you've never played FFVIII, it would in no way be a waste of your money. I bought it for 50 bucks and was completely satisfied. Trust me, it's worth it to get it for that cheap. And as an added bonus to getting a new game you get the source footage for you next VGMV! Ta-Da!

In my opinion FF8 was the worst of all the FF games I had played when i bought it...

heh, same here. I expected to be just as amazed as I was when I first played FFVII. Damn that feels like a lifetime ago. I was still in Middle School then, 7th grade.

Don't feel too bad. When I had to take Bugenhagen to the Lost City, I didn't know because I had skipped the dialouge explaining it beforehand.

Took me over a week to figure out what the hell I was doing before I stopped wandering all over the world and ended up at the Lost City.

one of my "friends" would skip all the diologue and turn to me with a puzzled look on his face and say "what do i do now?" when i asked him why he didnt read the diologue he said he couldnt be bothered.
