Realtec AC97 audio, is it compatible with Premiere 6.5?

Post by saithen » Fri Jan 16, 2004 4:36 pm

I know this dosn't really go here, but it dosn't go any where so...
Any ways I keep installing premiere and when I install it it throws an error, but it still installs, then it will start crashing whenever I put a clip in. I've uninstalled all my programs minus norton. So I don't really know what to do, if anyone has any ideas it would be helpful :)

I've got Realtek/Avance/VIA/whatever AC97 audio on my machine, and Premiere 5.1 always used to work fine for me, and Premiere Pro always works fine for me now.

Are you using DivX/XviD source clips?

That's your problem.

*scratches another tally mark on the wall*
Don't use DivX/XviD source footage.

If you must use fansubs, run them through VirtualDubMod, take the clips you need, and convert them to HuffYUV. They might be big files, but they won't crash your editing software.

There not fansubs, its RG veda which I ripped MYSELF. If you don't believe me I can show you the footage. And I don't appeciate you automaticlly assuming that it has fan subs on it considering I used DVD2AVI....thanx.

Sorry about that, it's just that, most of the time, when someone's editing with DivX/XviD, it means they're using downloaded footage.

But even so, if you're going to rip DVDs for to edit with the footage, you shouldn't make DivX/XviD encodes of them. Take the .D2Vs from DVD2AVI (you did save project files and not AVIs, right?) and use AVISynth to feed them to VirtualDub, then make HuffYUV files of the clips you need.

That, or get the Premiere AVISynth import plugin and edit directly with the VOBs (via AVS scripts) that way.
