Any ways I keep installing premiere and when I install it it throws an error, but it still installs, then it will start crashing whenever I put a clip in. I've uninstalled all my programs minus norton. So I don't really know what to do, if anyone has any ideas it would be helpful
Realtec AC97 audio, is it compatible with Premiere 6.5?

That's your problem.
*scratches another tally mark on the wall*
Don't use DivX/XviD source footage.
If you must use fansubs, run them through VirtualDubMod, take the clips you need, and convert them to HuffYUV. They might be big files, but they won't crash your editing software.

Sorry about that, it's just that, most of the time, when someone's editing with DivX/XviD, it means they're using downloaded footage.
But even so, if you're going to rip DVDs for to edit with the footage, you shouldn't make DivX/XviD encodes of them. Take the .D2Vs from DVD2AVI (you did save project files and not AVIs, right?) and use AVISynth to feed them to VirtualDub, then make HuffYUV files of the clips you need.
That, or get the Premiere AVISynth import plugin and edit directly with the VOBs (via AVS scripts) that way.
