So anyway, Ranma 1/2. An old series that currently reached its final DVD volume. I've read one or two manga volumes, but I've never seen the anime. So tell me about Ranma 1/2!

[Sell Me On] Ranma 1/2
The idea from dokool. I thought it was a GREAT idea, so I decided to try one myself. The 'Sell Me On' thing is where you guys have to try and 'sell' the anime mentioned. Uhh...actually, I can't it explain it. ^^;;;;; Go to the thread by dokool about Utna for better understanding.

I adore ranma. It's a great story though I've seen the first season. I've heard it gets a little repetitive though. In any case, it's just funny. It has a crazy amount of hijinx where even on the occasional instances where you just know something is going to happen it still makes you laugh.
I personally enjoy the romance element, RT creates this crazy love ____*insert shape with correct number here* that just keeps getting more tangled and comedic as time goes on. Not to mention if you like subs, two of the best seiyuus in my opinion are the same character. (Megumi Hayashibara and Kappei Yamaguchi play female and male Ranma.)
I guess Ranma is something you either love or hate, personally I love it, despite it's formulaic storyline. If you like RT's works you'll like Ranma.
I recommend it.

And that's the only thing I can say, since I haven't actually seen Ranma 1/2....

I've read a lot of the manga, but only seen the first 40+ episodes and some randoms one from the rest of the series. First off, the bad points (strange way to start selling something, but I beleieve in truth in advertising):
1. The animation style is old.
Not much you can do there, it's an old series. It's easy to get past though.
2. There are too many filler episodes.
But this isn't really an issue, sine Ranma is fomulaic action/comedy/romance and highly episodic anyway. There are a few good 'plot' arcs, though.
Now the good points:
1. Incredibly funny.
Ranma has puns, slapstick, situational humor....name a comedy style, it's there. Even some dark humor.
2. Pretty good action.
There's good fight scenes, if you're into that.
3. Actually, a strangely compelling romance story.
Despite (or perhaps, because of) the humor and hijinxs and action, there is romance.
4. Pandas.
Need I say more?
I happen to like Ranma 1/2 a lot.

Actually Viz put out the last DVD in the series in the 3rd quarter of last year. So there's a good reason. You won't have to wait any time at all to see the whole series. Instant Gratification-rific. Except you know...that whole money exchange part.
That's unlike my situation where I am dying to read the Fruits Basket manga and it's going to take forever and a couple months for them to be released domestically.
Ranma is great up until season 4 and then it seems to deviate way too much from the manga. But in the last part of the series, Ranma and Akane seem to get along better which is nice. The OVAs are awesome, but to watch them, you'll need to get familiar with the series first to understand.
