I recently became an avid Kenshin fan. THe OAVs, I knew about and watched over and over. Thing is, I always thought they were four episode deals, ending with Kenshin losing Tomoe and vowing not to kill. '
Recently, I saw OAV episodes 5 and 6 on kazaa and dl'ed them. Ep five is very strange so dismiss that, its something about Kaoru getting sick over waiting for Mr Himura to return from some war. Ep 6 is about Kenshin's showdown with Enishi.
So my first question is, what is the exact story line for Kenshin? I'm only up to episode 21 for the actual anime series but the new OAV episodes seem pretty serious. So they take place after the anime?

~10 years before TV Series: First OVA set (Samurai X/Trust and Betrayal) [4 Episodes]
TV Series [95 Episodes]
~15-20 years after TV Series: Second OVA set (Reflections/Seisouhen) [2 Episodes]
I'm not sure where in the timeline the movie falls, but it's after episode 68 of the TV series.

To elaborate, a good portion of the Seisouhen OVA is a series of Flashbacks Kaoru is having. Someone not familiar with the tv series might not know when a flashback is on (you would have seen that part in the tv series) and what is happening 'now'.
But here is something to clarify and this is a spoiler.
Let's see...how do I use this spoiler quote thingy...
If you were afraid to read that, I didn't blow the main spoiler, which is the ending. Personally I liked the ending though I know a lot of people don't.
By the way, Kaoru supposedly had TB, a skin/blood disease that made it's way through Japan about that time.

In Seisouhen, you can think of it as this. In the very opening scene, Kenshin falls into the water off that ship. Kaoru is waiting for him at the pier and goes home when he doesn't show. That is 'now'. Just about everything from there on is a flashback up until Sano finds Kenshin and Kaoru is sick in bed and Megumi is helping her. Seisouhen goes through the major moments between Kaoru and Kenshin's relationship during the tv series, and then after the series. The fight with Enishi is flashback too, but obviously that wasn't in the tv series. Kenji and Yahiko's fight is also in the 'here and now'.
