It could result in that but it's a small price to pay for not having a million database entries for the same anime.

Anyway, I think you are forgetting that EVEN if the person only knows the show by the name Samurai X, they have presumably watched it and would know that the main character in it is called Kenshin.

Wouldn't a simpler solution be to add "(Samurai X)" to the end of the OVA1 and Movie enteries? :/

It may well be ok for this example but what about the others? It's stupid to make a title filled with every possible name for an anime. If you do, you will get titles like this:

Ah/Oh My Goddess/Aa Megami Sama: The Adventures of Mini Goddess/Godessees/Chicchaitte Kotoha Benridane

The database contains titles from other languages too - should I include those in the title as well?

Well, primarily you should use the title that was used by the NA/Eu release companies, if that dosn't exist, fall back to the Japanese title.

This is more like a rare case, in which ADV was all 'LMAO LETS RENAME KENSHIN SINCE WE DIDN'T RELEASE THE TV SERIES LOLOLOLOLONE!'

How many possable cases of coperate re-name evil could there be?

Right, because all the other countries in the world use the Region 1 naming conventions for anime. Kenshin was broadcast on TV in the Phillippines under the name "Samurai X" too. If someone from there watched it on TV and then came here, they might not KNOW the Region 1 name OR the original japanese name for the show and be confused by a needlessly long title entry like "Rurouni Kenshin/Wandering Kenshin/Samurai X/Super Ninja Turtle Samurai Guy Who Fights For Love/etc."

Actually, I did know that ADV did that to Kenshin. I was having a senior moment when I said "I think it's"-I'm just unaccustomed to seeing it referred to as 'Ishinshishi Movie (Requiem for Meiji Restoration Patriots)', that's all.
