I must commend you for your creativity and though into this series.
It will be interesting to see how it turns out ^_^

My idea of "Foreigner in Japan" (trust me on this)

In the middle of the night...
[ doo dee BLIP BEEP da bwee ... first few notes of Ao No Requiem]
[silence]
American: What the?!
American: who could be calling me at this time?
* American begins pushing button on handy
* The local wakes up, quite sleepy
Local: (groggy).. uuuugh... wangiri phone.
American: Wha...?
Local: not to dial that number, wangiri.
American: So who is it?
Local: it charge you lots of money. now call...
Local: +0 *00 9999 wait for BEEP
American: Now what's that supposed to do?
Local: Call block!

The next morning
American: Gaaaaaahhh! OMGWTF?!
Local: (mumbles: gaijin da... nani des?...)
Local: What is it?
American: Your Samsung toilet just did...
Local: You push the red button! Red BUTTON
Local: Oh. Ah. What's this again?

In Toei-Shinjuku
American (on PHS): IT DOESN'T TAKE MY TICKET!
Local: Ticket which? The Shibuya, is it there?
American: The rail terminal! I'm stuck the turnstile.
Local: Turn style which is it?
American: Gate five.
Local: (mumbles) gaijiin daa!
Local: The correct way, does it insert the card?
American: Yes yes yes like the picture guy is doing
Local: The card, does it clean?
American: Yes! What else does it want, more money?!
Local: I think, adjustment of tariff then. Go to fare station.
American: Oh great... Thanks!
Local: Glad to be of help. <click>

Well, the 30% American student population yeilds this 'pocket' of familular, english fluent people. Then you start to wonder, would you leave the Americans at the school often to see Japan, or stay where it's safe?

Obviously you'd let them wander about aimlessly, as long as they aren't late to class theres no problem. (plus all the best beef bowl stands are over there >....no, not there, "THERE")

I was tempted to do a look back short story. About a different group of students, from 2001, watching the events of 9/11 occuring at 11pm their local time.

I just thaught it'd be an interesting thing to look at, miles from home, so many people in bed, it almost looks like a late movie only to realise that this is reality. Also to examin how they reacted, being only able to watch it on TV.

Yes, both American and Japanese foods are served, and they readily accomdate the needs of the American Students.

Besides, it's Japan, you can't get to far without finding a McDonnalds.

Yes.

I personally would leave the safety of the school dorms to see the city.

Just remember to plant tracking devices on the students before they leave.
