I'm using Video Studio 7 in an attempt to fansub the last 4 episodes of Mezinger Z for a friend. It has a title making feature. I find it fairly easy to add titles, since I can actually see where and how the titling will appear in the video.

You might want to give Sub Station Alpha a go. I'm not sure as to how easy it is. But it's worth a shot. Hmmm, the webpage mentioned in the "about" information isn't working, I''m sure you'll be able to pick it up somewhere.

just download microdvd (use google :P ) and you can use that to add subtitles very easily (its basicaly using notepad, defining which time frame a sub line will show in, and entering the subs, then saving with an extention .sub and just open it with micro dvd after opening the avi. works great)
