Um, to complelty own a corporation here you need 51% or more of the shares, thats just being the majority shareholder.
 no man, that's not what I ment.

In america anyone can own majority of a business, black, white, spanish, blue, asian, anyone.

In japan, only the japanese can own majority.
Ohhhh, okay. Didn't make sense what you were getting at the first read through. I suppose another reason that they may have this in place is to keep other countries from buying up peices of their industries.

DEAR GOD

WHAT HAS THIS ORG COME TO, the odassity of even thinking anime was racist! (jk)

no but seriously i highly doubt that anime is raceist, cuz the have ppl of every colour, and i mean EVERY, they have like purple and green and pink and shit for god's sake, if that is raceism then i dun wanna know wut isnt.

And its not really raceist when u think about it even if there is only one colour of people, because, anime is just a bunch of stories, if you had a written story in a book, i doubt that for the purpose of being politacaly correct, u'd put a chinese person in a book about the underground railroad, the reason black or any other colour of people may not be in some shows, is because they dont fit the story.

And i have one closing statement "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"

.... think about it

You never heard of Hop Tsing Tao, then. The baddest yellow chop-suey motherfucker this side of the Mason-Dixon. Carried the scroll of his ancestors in one side of his robe, and a Colt .45 revolver in his other. It was said that his shots never missed, as he invoked the "Power Of The Thousand Thunder Dragons" every time he fired. He also taught kung fu to black slaves traveling north, in addition to tai chi and the secret of eternal enlightenment.

He also washed a mean load of laundry and ran an overpriced general store.

Racist? Yes. Expect the Hollywood film next year :? .

The lack of blacks in anime is both the lacking ethnic population in Japan and also of production practicality. Blacks are actually difficult to animate. It's the hair. It's usually so short and curly and requires too much drawing on each frame. Long straight hair is easier.

Example: The title character of Nadia: Secret of Blue Water was originally drawn as an African with curly hair. It was actually kinda 'poofy' on the sides. Gainax discovered in test animation that it was too dificult to animate head movements with the curly hair. So they changed the character sketch so Nadia had straight hair. Nadia is generally recognized as being of African origin.

The big lips is also a production neccesity. With dark skin on the face, you need to highlight the borders of the mouth so people can see lip movement, as the usually pinkish mouth interior does not contrast as well as it does with paler skin tones. With paler faces, viewers can make out the black lines that define the mouth.

to put a chinese person in a book about the underground railroad would be historically inaccurate, and that is much worse than being politically incorrect.

Do you recall when he met Mamma tubman the baddest sister ever hired on the underground railroad and they beat up several hundred confederate solidiers who took mad joy torturing kittens. And she could
call down the power of the african gods through the magical drinking gourd

Again, many of you are imposing what *you* as an American view as racism and discrimination when in fact the Japanese (and entire Asian) society/culture is different. You can't go comparing them to your standards because they're obviously different.

As I said earlier, the Japanese are in general xenophobes and it is shown in the way they interact with foreigners, their portrayal of them and so on. Is this racism, discrimination or anything? That's debateable, but what is true is that they're a different society than the US and to go about comparing them like they are american's in the US won't give you "answers." What's "wrong" here might not be wrong over there and vice versa.

I guess I don't blame ya though since it's obviously easier to see things through your world view as opposed to another's, but that's also why I'm replying...

Just for the people who don't understand what xenophobe means.

xen·o·phobe - A person unduly fearful or contemptuous of that which is foreign, especially of strangers or foreign peoples.

fear·ful - Feeling or inclined to feel anxiety or apprehension

contemptuous - Manifesting or feeling contempt; scornful.

foreign - Located away from one's native country

And I totally agree!
