Reply Notification on Mobile Devices

Post by Charizard305 » Mon Dec 22, 2003 12:43 am

Just thought id throw an idea into the mixing pot.

In addition of sending Post Reply Notifications to a Email address, make an option to send it to both a Mobile device or Email Server (hotmail, AOL, whatever)

Y'know, if you're on a mobile phone, odds are you're away from your computer and can't check the damned forums anyways.

Maybe mobile notification on new opinions? With just the scores and not the good/bad/general stuff...

well, if u are away from your computer and geta message on a mobile device, itll let u know that u got a message, just like if u were at u computer and like MSN popped up saying u got a new email. u could use the mobile device just to let u know that u got messages waiting or what ever.

But the point is that if MSN pops up to say that you got a new email, you're AT YOUR COMPUTER to get the email. If you're driving and you get a message on your cellphone that somebody posted to a damned forum thread on the 'Org, what good will that do you? It's not like you can check the forum right then and there in your car, so you might as well wait till you get home, go to your goddamned computer, and check your email.

Dude, dont gotta get agitated. I tried to think up some hypothetical situations, but everything I thought of I figured u might have a snyde comment to make, so I wont even entertain that option.

All im saying is that There are situations where either MSN isnt avaliable, or im just not around the computer at the time and someone responds to a thread. I personally like to respond as soon as possible and that is just another tool to let me know that someone replied to a topic that I posted on and I dont feel like having my inbox filled up with 327 new messages from AMVORG@hotmail.com.

Maybe Phade should personally come delivering a handwritten scroll with information about who replied to your post, every time sometime replies to a thread you're watching!

And I'm not getting agitated, I'm just trying to be the voice of common sense.

I like this, it would create of a sense of self-inportance.

Yeah, but then people would complain that the money they donated for the Golden Donut was going towards plane tickets (whether or not it was actually the case)...
