Funny, but not all Nu-Metal (who came up with that anyway?)bands are crappy.Set_Abominae wrote:I think I might have seen this somewhere else. It's funny though.rubyeye wrote:Create your own nu-metal band, put in on MTV and earn a shitload of $$$

And I know a fire will come raining down from the heavens, but Linkin Park doesn't suck, so get over it. Yes, angsty maybe, but not shitty.
I could say that all the metal bands have hair borrowed from the 80's and sterotype them that way, but that doesn't make it true.
Some "metal" bands suck, and some "Nu-metal" bands suck, but not all, so don't carelessly go lumping groups together just because someone says they're in a certain genre.
Now I was suprised at that website seeing bands that I thought weren't metal (Queens of the Stoneage, Static-X, Ministry) and left out one i thought was metal (Sinisstar). Bands that I've heard before and liked(Fear Factory, Napalm Death, Rammstein, Type O Negative)
Also this band's pic makes me think of 80's goth. Must be the hair and make up, and......OMG ANGST!!!!!

I could name several reasons why I think Linkin Park is shitty, besides being angsty but I won't... because that's not what this post is about.Vlad86 wrote:Funny, but not all Nu-Metal (who came up with that anyway?)bands are crappy.Set_Abominae wrote:I think I might have seen this somewhere else. I knew you couldn't resist, which means you missed a point of my post entirely, or is that selective reading at work?Set_Abominae wrote:

Metal isn't the greatest music ever made, neither is Nu-Metal, rock, pop, rap. There is no one "greatest" type of music, as that begins to fall into the area of interpretations and personal interest. A few person may like rap, while another likes techno. Does that make rap the best? No. Does that make the techno fan "Elite" because he's a non conformist? No.
Popularity has nothing to do with it, only personal interest. Yes, there may be many people with similar interests and promoting a band or type of music to a high status, but that doesn't make that type of music the best, just the most commonly accepted.
Everyone thinks that their favorite music is the greatest, and to them it is, but not everyone else, so don't force your music on to other people, just suggest. Artist flaming gets old fast. Stop bashing LP, go find another hobby.
Also, if you were faced with being a small time band and making very little money, and having very few people know of you, or would you rather go big, make money, and have more people listen to your music? You'd be lying to yourself if you didn't choose the second option. And no don't give me any of that "corporate sellout" or "Indie" crap. If its really "about the music" wouldn't you want it spread out, with many people liking it?

Re: Easy to make your own band
Making music is about expressing your feelings. You should believe in what your doing. At the very least, you should be writing your own material, and playing your own instruments, and singing your own songs. I want many people to like MY music, not the music I made simply for the air-play.Vlad86 wrote:If its really "about the music" wouldn't you want it spread out, with many people liking it?
Oh, and for the record, I'm a linkin park and Evanescence fan

Little from column A, little from column B. I'm still not going to have this pointless argument with you. I've had it and won with too many people already... and i have a hangover.Vlad86 wrote:Set_Abominae wrote:

Seriously, I am biased like you and think METAL is the best music ever invented in the world. The numerous sub-genres attest to it's potential to expand beyond simply being "metal"; adapting and incorporating other styles and even creating new ones while still retaining that distinct METAL sound.
Oh, and for the record, I like Classical music too.
