I think its more ecchi than hentai ... for example ... love hina ... there are some things in there that arent suitable for children but it aint hentai ... 8) ... alot of anime are more ecchi than hentai ... unless u go for the more graphic stuff then its hentai...J-0080 wrote:Hentai (HEHN-tai)
n., adj. - From the Japanese, meaning "pervert" or "perverted". Has strong connotations and in a social setting, refers to any individual who has lack of morals when it comes to sexual situations and associations. Such individuals have a heavy interest in things of this nature. In anime terms, hentai refers to anime with strong sexual situations or acts contained in it. "La Blue Girl" and "Ogenki Clinic" are two such examples of this type of anime.
Ecchi (EH-chee)
n., adj. - From the Japanese, meaning "pervert" or "perverted", and the literal pronunciation of the letter "H" (hentai). This particular word has a milder, less powerful context than its much stronger counterpart, "hentai" and refers usually to more accidental instances of a sexual nature (for example, a male walking into the girls' locker room by mistake or accidentally seeing photos of a romantic interest in revealing clothing). Some anime could be defined as "ecchi" because of scenes of a lightly sexual nature.
For clarification.

Kite is an example of an anime that would still work without the hentai elements, and trust me, it's definately NOT ecchi!
if you buy the regular version (non-director's cut) you get the entire story, just without the elaborate... scenes. I bought the director's cut version and the scenes they took out (i haven't studied enough to know EXACTLY what was taken out though, i need to go rent regular version to compare) seemed to hold no importance, we still know they happen in the regular release, we just don't see it happening.
so yeah, some animes DO work without hentai, but if you take out the ecchi scenes, it's takes away from the humor or drama.

There u go ... some of the ecchi parts makes thing more funny ... like in love hina .. whenever keitaro does something like touches one of the gurls somewhere and then he gets beat up and all ... thats just funny ... but if they took that out then it would just be a bit dull ... so ecchi makes things funny at times... 8)Daio Kaji wrote:Kite is an example of an anime that would still work without the hentai elements, and trust me, it's definately NOT ecchi!

Most needless sex scenes EVER. Completly pointless, they were cut out for the standard release and NO ONE noticed.Daio Kaji wrote:Kite is an example of an anime that would still work without the hentai elements, and trust me, it's definately NOT ecchi!

The best stuff but I could think of plenty of anime without fanservice if you want it. Echhi and lollicon is way better than hentai.
