Evangelion interpretation

Thats a pretty interesting take on Evangelion. I have only seen the first episode of Evangelion which I thought was good although I only remember it vaguely. However I ordered the box set of Eva from AnimeNetwork (See location) about 4 weeks ago and have yet to recieve it. (If the backorder is this severe why keep advertising the product, its just a tease) I wanted to see what some people gathered from wactching Eva, this way when I eventually get it I might understand it more and i'll know what to look for.

I could spend hours plotting, detailing, explaining the many many reasons why Evangelion is the greatest thing ever made, to me. I don't know how you will like it, it provides everything I want in a series, but try not to *expect* it to be the greatest thing ever, just let it be what it is. I think how you approach and experience a series is important.

As for that ADV description, it's CRAP. One of the worst Evangelion interpretations I've ever read. There are many things fundamentally wrong with it.

Oh i've never heard anything about the action, only confusing religous stuff. Oh and just thought i'd mention, I found a review for eva in which it was given a 1. lol I think this is pretty funny because it is soley because the person reviewing it got so frustrated that he couldn't understand it.

I guess I kinda missed this thread since I don't like visiting this forum, but I'll just say I've done much research on Eva, its religious backgrounds, and the psychological theory it draws from (Freud and Jung), and I understand everything that goes on in Eva. I sat down at a table at like midnight with Nic Neidenbach and explained the entire thing to him. The vast majority is pretty obvious if you do some digging, and there are only a few things that are open to interpretation.

On that note, I would recommend, however, that people go back and look at the dozens of threads that have already discussed Evangelion, because everything that can be said has been said, in my opinion.

Oh except this one this I haven't shared with anybody yet, it's about the last line in EoE. The "Kimichiwarui" line which has been debated a whole lot. The Revival of Evangelion boxset discs come with scripts for every episode and the movies, and so I went through the script to take a look at the last line out of curiosity. The direction for the line is as follows:

kore ijyou naku, tsumetai koe de:
kimochiwarui

Which basically means "as above, in a cold-hearted voice:" and then kimochiwarui. The debate has been what the meaning of that line actually is. Does Asuka feel sick? Thus the "I feel sick" translation. Is she saying Shinji is sick? Thus the "Disgusting" or "Despicable" translation. The direction for reading the line makes it pretty clear, in my opinion, that it is the latter. (Tsumetai literally means "cool" or "cold" however in the context of voice, it means "cold-hearted" since that is also a literal translation of tsumetai).

Anyways, if anyone wants to discuss that feel free, but I don't think there's anything else new to talk about so I petition that this thread be locked unless people really really feel like repeating themselves.

I was under the impression that Asuka felt sick because Shinji just jerked-off then and there. There isn't all that much to suggest that this is what happens, but it's no less likely than any of the other suggestions.

I enjoy repeating myself. I get extremely annoyed when threads get locked. I don't think you can ever discuss Evangelion enough, even if you're just saying the same thing again and again, anything could happen.

Declan Lee - you're theory is interesting, and it's no less possible than any of the other theories, but I wound't say it's no less likely than the others, because people often have pounds of evidence and logic to back up their insight about it.
