Introducing a new DV industry standard, by Danielwang!

Post by danielwang » Wed Dec 17, 2003 12:08 am

Industry standards in Japan are better than ours! All their television is in 16:9 widescreen with MPEG-4 and AAC with 7.1 surround and lfe captions and chapters and their televisions record onto harddisks omg I wanna move there lol. Stupid Dish's Network and DUH-WRECK-TV aren't even on variable framerate DVB yet!

But enough of that.

Here's something I really really want from anime companies:
ALPHA CHANNELS!

Anime DVDs need to come with multiple dynamic (meaning NON binary) alpha channels. Or just one would work because the characters and objects overlap. Don't you wish you could bluescreen that whatever out of Shaman King? Without having to select the character?

How about we just hit a special button on our DVDv2 player, select the layer on the timeline and click the little eye :). That's Danielwang's new industry standard.

Even better, release them in source code format so we can compile it ourselves. Use my codec system that I proposed five months ago!

Don't want source code to be released, at least build it in multiple layers with their own alpha channel, so that we can subtract the "Starry background" layer from Gundam Seed and replace it with "KDE Default Wallpaper" which looks much much better.

Samurai Deeper Kyo, Hikaru No Go, Aa Megamisama and King of Bandit Jing need to come in multiple layers and streams so we can turn OFF that soft focus photography! It makes me think I need to clean the television screen!

So basicly, you want DVD based uncompiled digital colorforms?

You are an IDIOT.

OK, I'm going to try my hardest not to turn this into a personal attack so that it doesn't get modded, but I've been sitting on this for far too long since the last time I've said anything to you, and I'm sick and tired of it, and if this keeps up I worry that people who visit this forum will start getting the wrong impression about the intelligence of the people answering questions here.

danielwang, you need to shut the goddamn hell up.

Every post you make to this forum contributes nothing. I cannot remember once, ONCE, that you have ever posted something truly constructive to any conversation that hadn't already been said in the thread previously. Your constant peddling of ignorance, misinformation, and down right bullshit that permeates every thread you start is a detriment to this forum and it has got to stop.

I'm tired of seeing posts about your new nifty ideas, to which are accompanied lovely example pictures you've hand-crafted in photoshop or whatever, which are either completely irrelevant, unfeasible, or stupid and will never work.

I'm tired of seeing you make sweeping generalizations about things with no factual backup whatsoever, or backup which upon any kind of informed inspection falls apart faster than a house of cards in a wind tunnel.

I'm tired of seeing you responding to topics to which you obviously have no experience or information about and trying to pass yourself off as an expert when the truth is that you know nothing.

These forums (the 3 video help forums) are for asking serious questions about video and getting serious answers, or bringing to people's attention new programs or techniques which might be beneficial to the technical side of video editing. These are NOT your personal playgrounds. If you wanna post your self-masturbatory cool-idea posts, go do it at Doom9's forum and see how fast you get your ass banned because you are completely full of shit.

There is a reason Phade gave you that title, and it is not one to be proud of. One of the defining characteristics of someone being an idiot is that they do not know they are an idiot, and despite being told that they still do not realize this. If you KNOW you're an idiot, then obviously you are not.
You, however, either continue to ignore or fail to realize the fact that you are, indeed, an idiot, and as such are not qualified to answer questions or post threads of this nature. You need to go learn how video actually works, get some logic skills, and then learn some self-control.

As such, I would kindly request that from now on, before you make ANY post at all, please ask yourself the following 3 questions:

1) Is this post relevant to the topic I'm posting in or is this topical to the forum I'm starting a thread in?
2) Is this post well-informed, well-written, and researched properly?
3) Am I qualified to answer this question? i.e. Do I know what I'm talking about?

If you answer no to any of these questions, please do not post. It will be a benefit to everyone here in this forum.

Thank you.

I think it's funny how he seems to think EVERYTHING is flawed. HufYUV is yucky, Divx is bad, DVD's are insufficent, MS Mpeg-4 has secret filter gremlins in it that devower your soul.

Reguardless, he has been owned.
