For some reason there are over two thousand votes to ban anime and only a hundred to save animeangelx03 wrote:That "person" just talked about TWO series of the same genre. That's like a very small percentage of the entire population. But yea, that "petition" won't get too far. Heck, it's hardly persuasive.

It's very common with online petitions. Last year a guy was fired from a moderator position at a forum I help moderate now. He went off and made a petition to bring down the site. Every signature (and I mean EVERY sig) basically told him he was a moron and should grow up.
I once saw an online petition to stop using "God Bless America" as the US national anthem because of the use of the word "god." The whole petition was mutilated and turned into something like a message board thread with Christians screaming at athiests and athiests screaming at Christians by writing "signatures" over and over again. It really was a shameful display of crap from all sides.
It probably would have done better if the actual anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner," really did mention the word "god" in it. -_-

Honestly, this will blow over very quickly. That's if it hasn't already. There are far more apparent and much more dangerous corrupters of the American youth than anime. The worst thing that could happen is; Anime won't be able to be televised. What then? Well you're pretty much in the same boat as me, and my anime collection isn't exactly miniscule. Big deal.

It is, actually... just not in the first verse. People tend to not realize that there are more verses to the song... But that's beside the point.Cyanna wrote:It probably would have done better if the actual anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner," really did mention the word "god" in it. -_-

I've seen posts from a religious group that wanted to go after Disney over Kiki's Delivery Service!
Why? Because the film shows youngsters that witches are good. (Let us not forget that the Bible condemns witches!)
Fanatical parent groups and the like always are on the attack like this... often, nothing comes from it, but it is something to be wary of.

There are two kinds of people in this world:
Those who divide people into two kinds of groups
and those who don't.
