Having read all 10 volumes of the manga, I now have to ask: why hasn't anyone apparently licensed Kodocha yet? Great series, I want.

No one should be paying for my (hypothetical) DVDs (I will nither comfirm nor deny my actions publicly in the forum. >.>) Because, if they even DO exist they would be encoded from Divx and Xvid, which were ripped from DVDs.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I don't have to go learn how to mux in subtitles and a second audio into a compiled DVD because I am not about to make my first Dub and Jap/Sub MiniDVD. Yes, I am definatly not doing that... I assure you. >.>

Plausable Denyability is nummy. :)

There's actually been a lot of talk behind the scenes by TOKYOPOP about possibly licensing the anime Kodomo no Omocha. However, two things have put a hold on it. The first is the sheer length of the series. Long series do not sell well here in the U.S. do to the longterm $$$ investment required to purchase the entire series. The exception to this, and indeed the only thing that might offset the cost of picking up the series and releasing it to video is if they could also get it onto TV. Sadly, I simply don't see Kodacha having the marketing appeal that might get it onto TV.
The second problem is that Kodacha is Shoujo anime. Shoujo anime simply doesn't sell in the U.S. compared to shounen anime, and rarely does it attract the attention of the casual anime buyer. Seriously, can you think of a way to put a cover design on a Kodacha DVD that would make the typical anime buyer (AKA teenage male) choose it over the DVD with big breasted chicks, or some guy with a bunch of swords/guns on it?

I imagine series with a high episode count could sell fairly well if marketed correctly, though I'll agree with out about the shoujo factor.
I imagine older, episodic series don't go for as much money as the shorter, high end animes. Couldn't they manage to sell high volume DVDs, like 6 eps each, for a mid range cost, thusly making up the difference? I dunno about you, but I'd pay $20 for a DVD with 6 eps on it.

Oh, and thanks for confirming my nightmare, that the primary anime demographic is a bunch of penis drivin morons. :|

Meh, I'm not. Most of my stuff is more serious. The only ecchi series I own is Hand Maid May, and I would like it even without the fanservice.

I take offence to that DJ :?

I guess the secondary demographic would be a moderate consortium of rectum ridin geniuses.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

He insinuated it, coming out in vigilanty zealotness, and stating it outright is just going too far.
