You need quotation marksZeaul wrote:It says... "Script error: expected a , or ) (C:/EQUILIBRIUM/Equilibrium.avs, line 1, column 13)

AviSource ("C:\Program Files\Kazaa\warfootage\Equilibrium.avi")

DUH, I cannot believe I missed that! BUt now it's telling me this:
"AVISource: couldn't locate a decompressor for fourcc xvid (C:/EQUILIRIUM/Equilibrium.avs, line 1)
I have the Xvid decompressor installed though, I went to the website and downloaded it from there. And Google just sends me back to the Xvid website.

LOL, well I OWN the movie that I downloaded and normally I do not download them but I do not have the luxury of a DVD-ROM drive as of yet. Plus I am not reaping any benefit from having the movie on my computer. It would only be illegal if I were to use it for personal gain.

That wouldnt mean two bars of shit to the movies producers, production companies, actors or directors. Basically, if you have a copied movie, you're infringing copyright in a major major way, regardless of if you're making gain off it or not.Zeaul wrote:LOL, well I OWN the movie that I downloaded and normally I do not download them but I do not have the luxury of a DVD-ROM drive as of yet. Basically, you couldnt argue that in court and expect very much to win. Unless your lawyer rocked.

I'm not trying to start a flame war here but if you plan on centering me out as the only one in history who's done it back off. A lot of other more shady characters out there have done it for personal gain and on a much LARGER scale then I have and will EVER do. Owning a VCR and taping things infringes on copyright laws, owning a cassette deck and taping things infringes on copyright laws, as do many other things as well. Will I ever be tried in court on this? No not ever because it is a waste of money and the courts time when they can be persecuting REAL criminals such as murders, rapists and terrorists. It would never hold up in court because it would never MAKE it to court. I simply wanna make a music video, last I checked that was a pretty harmless act.

Your best bet is to stop talking about it, then. There's no point arguing about legalities when it comes to this topic - people *have* to yell at you because the site says not to use downloaded footage. It's a 'don't ask, don't tell' situation. Yes, it's as illegal as ripping dvds and distributing the footage in amvs, but as far as the site goes, it's worse to use downloaded footage. You'll be lectured regardless because of the site rules, nothing personal.Zeaul wrote:I'm not trying to start a flame war here...
Just get back to the question at hand. You're still failing to register the xvid codec used for the file? Have you tried uninstalling and replacing your current codec? Have you tried downloading the 'Gordian Knot Codec Pack' from http://www.doom9.org and installing that? Forget the legality debate (it pops up ever time - you won't win) - what's the status of your problem?
